Hello! If you've earned Sale-a-Bration rewards like the Catching Butterflies Stamp Set or the Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper and you aren't sure what to do with them or how to use them, here are two cards that use both to create a happy, fun theme and aren't too complicated.
WHAT IS SALE-A-BRATION?
If you are new to the blog or to Stampin' Up! welcome! Sale-a-Bration is a promotion that Stampin' Up! offers where you can earn FREE rewards when you spend $50.00, $100.00 or more. From January 4-February 28, 2022 if you spend $50.00 (before tax) you qualify for free products you can choose from the Sale-a-Bration brochure. If you spend $50.00 you qualify for the Catching Butterflies stamp set or the Sunshine & Rainbows paper. If you spend $100.00 you can choose both or another item from the brochure.
Paper piecing is a fun way to add your favorite patterns to stamped images, in this case our butterfly catcher's dress, but you could also color in the images with your favorite tools. I am partial to Stampin' Blends so I will also be using those today.
Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 score at 4-1/4" (Night of Navy)
Layer: 4-1/8 x 5-3/8" (Magenta Madness)
Scalloped Contour Rectangle Die 3-1/8 x 4-1/2
*Optional Designer Paper Layer on the Polka Dot Card 3-1/4 x 4-5/8
Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper Used to Create Her Dress with Paper Piece Technique
Paper piecing is a fun way to use your scraps and favorite Designer paper patterns. I prefer patterns that are very small like the suns on the dress above or the lines on the green dress below. It doesn't compete with the cuteness of the girl. It adds to her charm and looks like a real dress!
Paper Piecing with the Green Pattern *Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper*
This paper can be earned for FREE when you spend $50.00 before tax during Sale-a-Bration
Sale-a-Bration Ends 2/28/2022
Colors from Top to Bottom: Gray Granite Combo, Ivory/Bronze Combo, Daffodil Delight Combo, Magenta Madness Combo and Pool Party Combo
You will earn free rewards from Stampin' Up! when you spend $50.00 or $100.00 before tax.

As promised here is PART 2 of my January 2022 Paper Pumpkin alternate projects. This video is about treat packaging from the Annual Catalog. There is an add-on available from Paper Pumpkin for 20 Treat Boxes, Tags and Gold Twine that coordinate with the kit for $10.00 but to order you must be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber. I did order these but they have not arrived yet and I wanted to provide alternate ideas with packaging you may have.
Mini Paper Pumpkin Box Alternate Idea: Blushing Bride Ink
Polished Pink Ombre Gift Bag with Gold Heat Emboss & Heart Punch Pack
I was able to do a walk through and assembly of the kit and I had enough time to make two quick alternate projects. More to come but since my kit arrived yesterday I wanted to get out to you as quickly as possible! You are going to love it. It is sooo sweet!

THE JANUARY PAPER PUMPKIN ALTERNATE CARDS (How To)
Alternate Products Used:
Gray Granite (full size ink pad)
Flirty Flamingo Ink & Cardstock
Very Vanilla Ink & Cardstock
Stampin' Seal+
VersaMark Ink
Stampin' Emboss Powder in Gold
Heat Tool
Anti Static Tool (Embossing Buddy)
Stampin' Blends in Flirty Flamingo (Both Colors)
Scallop Contour Dies
Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine
Paper Trimmer
*Heart Die from Love & Happiness Bundle
CARD 1 - LOVE YOU
Measurements:
Flirty Flamingo Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 score at 4-1/4"
Envelope X O Liner as Layer Cut to: 4 x 5-1/4"
Scalloped Contour Rectangle in Very Vanilla: Die Size: 3-1/8 x 4-1/4"
Note: I am going to start instructions after the cutting, scoring and die cutting steps but if you want me to include detailed step-by-step instructions for this part as well, just let me know in the comments!
Instructions:
Stamp the solid heart image from the stamp set in Flirty Flamingo Ink onto the Very Vanilla Scalloped Rectangle (within the stitched border). I stamped 8 Hearts. Set your ink with the heat tool. If you skip this step the emboss powder may stick to the ink on the second pass when you add the "love you" sentiments.
Once the pink hearts are heat set then run your anti static tool across the hearts. Take the VersaMark ink and stamp "love you" over the center of each heart.
Sprinkle with Stampin' Emboss Powder. I use a scrap paper to catch the powder but if you keep your powder in a container than do what you would normally do with your powder.
Wipe away any excess or unwanted powder and then set the powder with heat tool. It never gets old watching that powder turn to shiny gold words!
Assemble your card. Glue the XO layer (from the envelope liner) to your card base.
The next step is optional. The easiest way to add a pop of Flirty Flamingo between the scalloped rectangle and card base is to add a piece of cardstock. I chose to color the frame of the scalloped die cut with Flirty Flamingo Dark in the Stampin' Blends. If you like coloring you will enjoy this option! If not, just add a cardstock piece.
Place Stampin' Dimensionals on the Scalloped Rectangle and adhere to card.
Add sequins from the kit! And you're all set.
CARD 2 - SENDING YOU LOVE
Measurements:
Very Vanilla Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 score at 4-1/4"
Scalloped Contour Rectangle in Flirty Flamingo: Die Size: 3-1/8 x 4-1/4"
Scalloped Contour Rectangle in Very Vanilla: Die Size: 2-3/8 x 3-5/8"
Die Cut Stitched Heart (from Love & Happiness Bundle) in Flirty Flamingo
Instructions:
Stamp with the dots pattern stamp in Flirty Flamingo ink all around the border of your Very Vanilla card base.
Adhere the Flirty Flamingo Scalloped Rectangle in the 3-1/8 x 4-1/4" size to the card base centered.
Stamp the Heart/Arrow in VersaMark ink after you run the anti static tool across your Very Vanilla scalloped rectangle. I suggest three rows so you don't have overlap like I did on my card project in the live. 9 stamped hearts and arrows total.
Stamp "Sending you love" onto the Die Cut Heart. Same steps with anti-static tool and VersaMark ink.
Repeat the heat emboss process of adding powder and heat setting each piece with the heat tool.
Once the embossed images are set and cool to touch then color in the hearts with Stampin' Blends in Flirty Flamingo Light, Dark or a Combination. I showed both options in the video.
Place the Very Vanilla Rectangle on Dimensionals and center inside of the Flirty Flamingo Rectangle.
Place your Sentiment Die Cut Heart wherever you like. On the first card I chose the lower right of the stamped layer. In the second card, I had accidentally overlapped an image and covered with by centering the heart over it. Both looked cute! Whatever you think is best.
Add your sequins from the kit! Make someone's day! Send them love. Send them hearts. Send them a handmade card from the heart. There is nothing better in my opinion.
Thank you so much for spending time with me on the blog today!

It's perfect for this time of year and made for hopelessly romantic valentines. I mean, "True Love Stories Last Forever?" YES! They Do! And it doesn't get any more mushy than that.
Polished Pink and Petal Pink Cardstock and Ink
Double stamped lace pattern with Stamparatus One card horizontal lines, One card vertical lines
The intricate lace stamps are very crisp and precise, even heat embossed with VersaMark ink. You do not lose a single detail and I can tell you from experience not all brands are created equal and Stampin' Up!'s cling (rubber) stamps are top notch!
Here is a video tutorial if you are interested. We will also cover details on the blog today.

Anti Static Tool for Heat Embossing
White Stampin' Emboss Powder
Frayed Ribbon

Stitched Rectangle Dies (3 x 4-3/8" Size)
MEASUREMENTS, STEPS & TIPS
Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and scored at 4-1/4" (Basic White)
Stitched Rectangle Layer (3 x 4-3/8") I chose Petal Pink and Polished Pink for My Cards
Extra Cardstock for Your Hearts - Basic White and Coordinating Color Cardstock
Frayed Ribbon (Cut piece slightly larger than the Stitched Rectangle) tuck flaps behind layer
The card layout is fairly simple. The "extra" step is the heat embossing. I love the way the lace stands out against the cardstock pinks. You, of course, can use regular ink if you do not want to heat emboss. I'll include heat emboss instructions here:
Cut half sheet of cardstock if you'd like to create background stamping and like to have extra room to stamp or for any possible mistakes. This size also allows to cut the rectangle and punched out hearts
Run anti-static tool across the area where you will stamp with VersaMark
I used a clear block of the lace pattern shaped like an L
Position your stamp in the corner, ink with VersaMark ink and stamp
To create the background pattern, position the stamp above the one you just did but place the stamp "upside down" and now you can nestle the patterns into each other, almost interlocking but not quite touching. Repeat this across the cardstock and re-ink with VersaMark in-between each stamp
Set down a piece of scrap paper large enough to catch the embossing powder unless you keep it tidy in a tupperware container! I'm not quite there, yet, lol!
Sprinkle powder over stamped images and heat with the heat emboss tool
Cut Stitched Rectangle
Punch Heart with the heat embossed lace pattern on it
Punch Scalloped Heart with Basic White Cardstock
Stamp Sentiment the bottom center of your card base
Wrap ribbon around the rectangle and pop up rectangle on dimensionals before adding to card
Glue lace heart to the Scalloped Heart
Place dimensionals on heart and place over the ribbon (Center)
I tend to punch upside down (so I can see where I punch) just be careful not to pinch yourself if you punch this way
PRECISION STAMPING (with the Lace Strip Stamp and the Stamparatus)
You can do this with a single lace strip stamp or you can make the strip double sided like I did. The key to getting this straight and aligned is your Stamparatus. The Stamparatus is a precision stamping tool. It has many benefits but this is probably its most used function.
Place stamp on your cardstock where you want to stamp
Pick up the stamp with the Stamparatus plate (make sure stamp clean when positioning)
Ink and stamp every hinge with the VersaMark ink
If you want single sided lace strips you will add your heat emboss powder here
If you want double sided lace strips...
Turn the cardstock over
Clean your stamp and again position it where you need to stamp your image
NOTE: If you want a close line you will position the stamp slightly overlapped with the image you just stamped. Part of the image will be covered with stamps. Line up the pattern.
Pick up stamp with the Stamparatus plate and ink and then stamp at every hinge
Your patterns should line up perfectly all along your piece of cardstock
Add your heat embossing powder and heat with the heat tool
Practice this. You find the position you like best for the double sided image. Not every line has to be perfect. Remember, you are cutting out the stitched rectangle so you can pick the best patterns and cut.
I hope you enjoyed this card project today! Are you a hopeless (or eternally hopeful) romantic? I think it goes without saying that I am too!

Today's blog is specifically about creating alternate projects with the December 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit: Lots of Pun with the Stamparatus. I have the video tutorial here but I'll also get into specifics in the blog today. This kit had a very special element - all of the word stamps were about the same size!
Typically, Paper Pumpkin offers a variety of stamps in each kit. They range in size, font, theme, sentiments and images. They are rarely all the same size.
This month's kit there are several fonts. Some is upper case, some is lower case and they vary in length but the width was narrow for all of them which meant the Stamparatus would make stamping a BREEZE. 10 Sentiments stamped in under two minutes.
So who does this help?
Stampers crunched for time, to start. And, yes, I'm raising my hand on this option
Stampers who make kits in bulk for charities or causes close to their hearts
Stampers who enjoy repeat stamping or patterns
Stampers who like a streamlined process or appreciate efficiency
New stampers afraid of making a mistake can use this tool to stamp again and again until they get their image, ink and positioning just right and gain their confidence
Simple Stampers - crafters who like simple projects
Paper Pumpkin is a cost effective way to make a lot of really cute cards for a low price point. Typically, each kit has a refill option for Paper Pumpkin subscribers so they can order multiples of refills and make dozens of cards in a sitting.
If this is you, you probably already own a Stamparatus but if not then definitely consider it.
The Stamparatus from Stampin' Up! is one of the most useful and efficient tools in your craft room guaranteed. Whether or not you are using it is another conversation.
If you do not have one and you stamp on a regular basis (weekly or monthly), I highly recommend you get one.

I have a Host Code that ends on January 17, 2022. If you purchase $50.00 in product before tax with me in the online store you will receive a free embellishment. Shop with Host Code here: https://www.stampinup.com?hostcode=YAHKGWQV
HERE'S WHY I USED THE STAMPARATUS ON THE DECEMBER KIT:
This die cut sheet right here caught my eye. When I first received the kit I didn't really notice how similar all of the sentiment sizes were but there were so many pieces of this think rectangle die cut I went back to the instructions and looked at the Paper Pumpkin card layouts. Sure enough, it was for those pun phrase stamps.
Light bulb moment. Now, I'm not perfect so before stamping 10 sentiments all at once and getting it wrong on the Pool Party side, I decided to turn the entire die cut over to the back (the Basic White side) and do a test run to make sure my line up was good.
So what are some ways you can be sure your line up is perfect on the Stampartus before stamping?
1.) Positioning
I have found the best way to do this is to take a clean stamp and lay it directly onto the die cut where you want it stamped and then pick it up with the Stamparatus plate.
2.) Mark the position of your cardstock or die cut so you can put it back should the paper get moved accidently during stamping
If you have the grid paper sheets you can mark this easily with a pen
You can use a template (for example, if you cut out a stitched rectangle and you will be stamping 20 of that exact rectangle in the same place, use the negative (the piece the rectangle was cut from) to line up the rectangle perfectly and stamp each time
Use the magnets to secure your paper once your positioning is correct
3.) Practice Sheet or the back of the die cut sheets for a test run
OTHER STAMPARATUS TIPS (I've Found Helpful)
Use a Stampin' ink spot (from a Paper Pumpkin kit) instead of a full ink ink pad to ink your stamps on the Stamparatus plate
Use one of your stamp cases to get your plate to lay flat while inking if its hinged onto the Stamparatus
Keep a Simply Shammy or quick cleaner nearby to wipe stamps and/ or plates/ magnets clean easily between rounds of stamping
Make sure your plate in the hinges are able to move to the right if you are stamping left to right
STAMPING FOR EFFICIENCY VS. STAMPING FOR DESIGN With the Stamparatus
Being able to stamp 10 sentiments in a minute in repeat for as many cards as needed is amazing and it's one of the best features of the tool.
What about layout and design (if that matters to you)?
Most stampers and crafters who like making alternatives enjoy taking a card design or layout and then putting their spin on it. It's one of the reasons Paper Pumpkin is sooooo popular. Just when you think you've thought of everything... there's another fantastic idea to try.
I myself am a repeat stamper. I create repeat patterns in almost everything I create. My son is drawn to patterns too. It's visually pleasing to me. If you have a stamp set or card kit you really really love try stamping that image or phrase in repeat, in one row or five rows. It has a cool look on the finished card!
TIPS ON STAMPING IMAGES (Cherry Card for an Example)
Cherries positioned at slight angle so I could stamp images close together (Every hinge instead of every other hinge on Stamparatus)
The size of the stamp matters because of the space between hinges on the Stamparatus
If you have a stamp about 1 inch in width you're fine for every hinge stamping
If you have a stamp 2 inches or 3 inches you may have to angle it slightly to avoid overlap of the stamped images or stamp every other hinge
Practice, practice! Get that scrap paper out and play with your favorite images
If you are ok with an overlapped look consider masking the image for a cool pattern effect
I hope you found these tips today on the Stamparatus helpful!
I have so many ideas and posts with the Paper Pumpkin kits but if you'd like to know more about it then let me give you a few talking points about Paper Pumpkin
It's a monthly subscription box from Stampin' Up! Mostly card kits, occasionally treat boxes or bag kits around holidays
It's $22.00 per month if you pay as you go (month-to-month) there are cost saving options with pre-paid options as well
You can suspend or cancel anytime
It's all-inclusive meaning you have everything you need in your kit to make the cards (except scissors)
Every month is a different theme, ink and stamp set
Every kit has "extras" you can use for alternate projects or future kits
You get a teaser each month but the whole kit reveal doesn't happen until you receive it in the mail
You have to be subscribed by the 10th of the month to receive that month's kit (Febuary Kit you must sign up by February 10th and so on)
Subscribers have an option for refills
I provide alternate ideas each month
February 2022 Kit is all about uplifting, positive messaging with a Safari theme! Too Cute!

Love birds are timeless, aren't they? It's such sweet imagery and it gives us all the feels!
You will really enjoy creating this card whether it's for your sweetheart or a cute couple of love birds you know.
The good news is birds are a popular theme for crafters and stampers so chances are you have a bird stamp in your collection, and you can create the mirror image technique with just about any stamp as long as you have a silicone mat. I also recommend a stamping tool, but it isn't a must - we have the phenomenal Stamparatus - and it's handy to have post-its if you need to mask off certain parts of a stamp like I will be today.
FRIENDLY HELLO - That is what we will be using today to create these cards. What is Friendly Hello? It's actually a Sale-a-Bration item! When you spend $100 or more you qualify for the Friendly Hello bundle (Stamp Set and pack of 12 x 12 Coordinating Designer Series Paper).
Sale-a-Bration rewards are good from January 4 through February 28, 2022.
If you watch my tutorials, you know I am in love theme/ valentine cardmaking mode right now hence the love birds idea that popped up when I was working with the Friendly Hello stamp set.
I want to point out a few things before we get into the tutorial.
I have two more free online card classes coming up on Facebook Live January 18 and February 1, 2022.
Sign up for my email list if you are interested in the classes. My email list is the first place I share sneak peeks, new classes, events, product launches, etc. Sign up here: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/su/GLk7fdL

I do want to reference the video tutorial here if you've never seen or tried the mirror imaging technique before.
I recommend a stamping tool so you can ink a strong image (not faded) when you transfer the stamped image from the silicone mat to the paper.
Before I go through the mirror image part, I also masked off the flower cluster next to the bird with two Post Its. You can cut your stamps if that is your preference but I do not typically cut or separate my stamp images. I just usually put a post it on anything I do not want inked and then remove the post it just before stamping the part of the image I did ink, in this case, the bird. You will also mask in the same exact spot for the mirror image stamp on the silicone mat.
Here's how you do it:
Stamp your first image as normal on cardstock in the desired ink, set aside
Place a clean silicone mat on your Stamparatus
Ink your image and stamp onto silicone mat
I recommend re-inking and stamping a second, even a third time before transferring image to cardstock
When you have a good image on the silicone mat, you are going to position the image on the silicone where'd you like it on the cardstock with the first stamped image.
NOTE: Take your time here
I wanted the beaks to touch (the birds kissing) so I positioned it that way before setting the silicone mat down and gently pressing to transfer ink to cardstock
That's it! You just did mirror image stamping! It seems intimidating but its actually pretty easy!
STAMPING THE SENTIMENT (AND MASKING AGAIN)
I chose the sentiment "You Have My Love and Support" and masked off the "and support" part of the stamp with a Post It. I know some people like to cut their stamps. I do not typically cut them. I just mask.
Whether or not you choose to color your image is up to you. Some prefer just the stamped image. I prefer to color and I chose Stampin' Blends. (Alcohol Markers ideal for blending multiple shades)
I googled "Love Birds" to get an idea for how to color my birds. On the first card, I chose a multicolor bird. Lower half Granny Apple Green combo, upper half Petal Pink and Daffodil Delight, blending into the Granny Apple Green until it looks natural. Dark Granny Apple Green on the wing feathers.
Also, on the first card, with Pool Party Light I colored all around the birds for a very faint blue sky look.
On the second card, the boy bird is half Pool Party and Granny Apple Green and the girl is Fresh Freesia and Petal Pink with a touch of Daffodil Delight.
The rest of the card assembly is just die cutting the stitched rectangles and heart. I stamped my sentiment directly onto the heart die cut. It's so cute!
Glue the largest rectangle onto the card base first.
Take a strip of ribbon long enough to wrap around the middle rectangle and adhere it to the back. I chose Tear and Tape Adhesive.
The Birds rectangle will get popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals. The die cut heart will also get a dimensional and place right between the birds!
If you like to stamp the inside of your cards, try the large double flower and the line art leaf (meaning just the outline leaf stamp). Stamp flowers in Fresh Freesia and the leaves in Granny Apple Green. I stamped three leaves.
VARIATIONS FOR THE NEST CARD
If you want the extra wow of your birds sitting in a nest then take that tree die cut, cut in half. Take the hexagon in Sahara Sand and cut in half. Glue the trapezoid (half hexagon) to the the perch area for the birds. Place your two halves of the die cut tree (branches pointing to bottom of nest) and trim any excess off. Glue down so branches are covering the trapezoid and it looks like a nest.
Instead of the ribbon being on the middle rectangle I wrapped it around the edge of the nest and I tied a bow with a second piece of the Fresh Freesia ribbon for a polished finish. On this version, the birds are different colors and there's no background Stampin' Blends shade.
I opted for the Striped DSP pattern and the Fresh Freesia splatter pattern DSP. No matter which of the paper you choose your card will be bright and beautiful and full of love!

WE HAVE A NEW CATALOG & SALE-A-BRATION!
Sale-a-Bration 2022 runs from January 4 - February 28, 2022. When you spend $50.00 before tax or $100.00 (before tax) you can earn Free products from the Sale-a-Bration brochure.
PLUS, I HAVE AN ORDERING SPECIAL
That's right! Double dip when you spend $50.00... you'll earn that Sale-a-Bration reward from Stampin' Up! and you can get 4 free card kits, a PDF Tutorial from me and a little goodie from January 4-10, 2022! Shop with Host Code: https://www.stampinup.com?hostcode=YAHKGWQV
Emboss the stitched rectangles so the heart is at the center of rectangle
Place several drops of desired color (Balmy Blue) on a clear block, add a generous amount of water
Take the largest water painter brush and get the bristles nice and saturated before you start to add the Balmy Blue
In large sweeping motion, repeat adding the watercolor over the entire embossed rectangle
Once you are happy with the look set aside to dry
Once completely dry, take your die cut heart (large or small depending on card size - I made one of each) and cut the heart out of the center of the stitched rectangle
Cut Simply Marbelous Designer Series Paper in the coordinating shade (Balmy Blue) I chose the "Marble" side but there is also a "Satin" side to this double sided paper
Cut the DSP (Designer Series Paper) so it is not showing. Glue panel to back of stitched rectangle
Stamp your sentiment along the bottom of the card at center and then glue your stitched rectangle to card base above the sentiment
I chose to keep this card very simple. No embellishments or ribbon. The embossing and watercolor wash look is the special touch for this card.
These are ideal for mailing. No extra postage should be required.
I love how easily duplicatable these are in every color! If you enjoy making card layouts in every color of the rainbow or in every color in Stampin' Up!'s collections, then this is a great card layout for you! I adore these in the Subtles Collection colors and it really got me excited for upcoming Easter themes as well.
CRAFTY TIP!
If you want to emboss the large heart frame (from the die) into the piece where the small heart is cut out at the center then try this tip.
Place Large Heart Die FACE DOWN (cut side to plate)
Place the Small Heart Die in the center of large heart (cut side up)
Place your watercolor embossed rectangle (the smaller die cut rectangle) face down so that the heart lines up with the large heart die. This is the opposite of how we usually cut so you won't be able to see the dies when you cover it with the paper.
Place die cutting plate down and run through Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine
The small heart will be cut and the large heart will have only embossed!
It's a simple but lovely detail that will set your cards apart! Your recipient (or recipients if a couple getting married) will LOVE it! They will feel really special receiving this card from the heart handmade from you!
