How to Make Wiper Cards: Halloween Edition (FIXED AUDIO on the YouTube video)

UPDATE: The original video published to YouTube was difficult to hear. After several people reached out I decided to re-record the audio and this is the corrected video. Thanks so much and Happy Crafting!

I had seen a presentation of a card that was called "Peek a Boo" and with a little research discovered it was a "wiper" card. I came across fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Julie Davison's tutorial and I'm happy to say hers was easy to understand and follow down to the post its! So, I tried my hand at these super cute cards and made a few modifications but the mechanism and technique is exactly the same.

SHOP WITH ME! If you do not already have a demonstrator I'd love the opportunity to earn your business! For the Graveyard card, I recommend the Cute Halloween Suite or Bundle. The suite includes the Cute Halloween Designer Series Paper and also qualifies for Saleabration rewards through September 30, 2021.

Sweet Stockings, the Stamparatus & Saleabration Rewards: Stamp Multiple ...

Last week we had some fun designing cards to be stamped in repeat using Cute Halloween and the Stamparatus! This week I wanted to keep the fun going with the Sweet Stockings Suite.

The idea here is to be able to stamp the stocking and animals in repeat either together or separately depending on how you want your card layout.

On my Facebook Live, I asked if people preferred the line on the top of the stocking even if it went through the paws of the animals peeking out. The majority said, "without the line," so I masked off the top line of each stocking with a Post It.

If you are making multiple cards in this layout with the three stockings and three animals peeking out you can color the images yourself with Stampin' Blends or Watercolor Pencils. You can die cut stockings from the Designer Series Paper pattern that has the same exact sizing as the stamp stockings. I kow this because the stocking dies will cut both the stamped stocking and the Designer Series Paper stockings perfectly.

I chose the easier option of replacing the stamped stocking with a die cut stocking that was already colored and ready to go from the Designer Series Paper. The benefit to this is the stamped stocking image can act as a guide for where to line up your die cut stocking so it's aligned with your stamped animals. I chose to color the animals faces with Stampin' Blends and then adhere the stocking die cut. When choosing this option for the card layout, it looks like the paws are tucked into the stocking.

You can either stamp the paws onto the die cut and color them (but some of stocking colors are dark) or you could fussy cut your animal so the paws peek out over top of the stocking.

So several options for card layouts using the Stamparatus and Sweet Stockings Suite or Bundle.

Love the Cutest Halloween Stamp Set? Go Grab Your Stamparatus and Let's Do This!

Tell me if this has ever happened to you...

You see the world's cutest stamp set, you order it immediately and then when you get it home you have no earthly idea how to design a card with it because it is a MULTI-STEP stamp set. That means you have an outline, a fill stamp and detail stamps that you add one step at a time.

MULTI-STEP Stamp Sets are AWESOME! They are so incredibly versatile and you have so many more options than you normally would if the stamp was just 1 step instead of 2 or 3. For example, a jack o lantern... if the face of the jack o' lantern was part of the stamp you couldn't change the face (easily), but if you have the pumpkin outline and face options, now you've got something you can customize!

Enter Cutest Halloween Stamp Set...

I took one look at this and went for my Stamparatus!

If you are intimidated by the Stamparatus please DO NOT BE. It's a very helpful tool and you'll be glad you took the time to work with it for more efficient stamping and honestly, maximizing your use of these stamp sets!

STAMPARATUS TIPS:

#1) USE SCRAP PAPER (SMALL GRID PAPER) TO CREATE YOUR DESIGN TEMPLATE

This is such a helpful part of using the Stamparatus and it is specifically sized to fit the Stamparatus base. Once you create a template you can always refer back if you need to remove your cardstock and re-adjust. You just place the stamp directly over the stamped image on the scrap paper and pick it back up with the with plate. It will look perfect.

#2) USE BOTH PLATES - BOTH SIDES
When you purchase the Stamparatus you get two plates that fit in the hinges. You can maximize the use of your plates with multi-step stamped images.
-Outline on Side 1 of Plate 1
-Fill stamp on Side 2 of Plate 1
-Detail stamp on Side 1 of Plate 2
-Sentiments on Side 2 of Plate 2
This is just one example of how to maximize your plates and USE ALL OF YOUR STAMPS!

#3) UNINKED STAMPIN' SPOTS/ STAMPIN' SPOTS FROM KITS
Utilize these travel size ink pads when you want to stamp multiple colors at once without having to mask the nearby stamps. This way you can stamp multiple images in multiple colors at ONE TIME. Using full size ink pads makes this impossible. And there are other ways to ink but I like this one best.

#4) STAMPIN' WRITE MARKERS
Stampin' Write Markers were made for this! They should be sold as a bundle, in my opinion. These markers are safe to color directly onto your stamp and are even more precise than Stampin' Spots. You can also achieve cool patterns and looks with these. Because the tips are so precise you can color with multiple markers on one image!

#5) CLEAN BETWEEN PLATE SWAPPING (SIMPLY SHAMMY)
If you work in a narrow space and you are switching back and forth between plates and have stamps on both sides of the plates - clean those stamps after you switch out that plate/ side of plate so you don't get ink accidentally on something else.

I hope you enjoyed these 5 tips for using your Stamparatus! If you would like to shop with me here is the link. I would love to earn your business if you do not currently have a demonstrator:  Shop Here

Turn Your Tombstone Treat Box into A Graveyard Scene Card

FUN FACT: I grew up right next to a cemetery. It's true! I have great respect for the fact that is a treasured resting place for our loved ones but it's also a recurring theme in my Halloween crafting. It certainly left an impression. My grandfather loved history and he always walked his dogs and told me wonderful stories about the historical figures buried there.

Products Used

  • Tombstone Treat Boxes (Food Safe)
  • Sparkle of the Season Stamp Set
  • Frightful Tags Dies
  • Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • VersaMark Ink Pad
  • White Embossing Powder
  • Basic White Cardstock
  • Basic Black Cardstock
  • Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Adhesive Sheets (These turn die cuts into stickers, highly recommend for intricate pieces)
  • Stampin' Seal
DID YOU KNOW... Sale-a-Bration is on from 8/3-9/30/21 - when you spend $50 earn free product! Learn more here: Shop with Me

Card Measurements:

  • Card Base (Basic White): 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 - Scored at 4 1/4"
  • Tombstone - trim to 4 1/8" inch and place the base back onto the tombstone to make it fit

Instructions:

Stamping the background: take the circle stamp and stamp in repeat with Smoky Slate all over the front of the card base. Take the trio of bats stamp and stamp that as many times as possible all over the card base. I did different angles (think alternating the stamp) in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

After you trim your headstone to fit the card base size, you can make it look dirtier or aged by adding ink with a sponge dauber around the edges.

Die cut two iron gates in Basic Black Cardstock

Die Cut two owls in Basic Black Cardstock

TIP: I recommend using Adhesive Sheets with these dies to turn them easily into stickers. Place adhesive sheet on back of cardstock, place dies on opposite side and cut. Peel away backing and you have a sticker!

Die cut black sentiment piece

Die cut spiderweb with Basic White Cardstock

Use your VersaMark ink to stamp "Happy Halloween" onto the back sentiment piece and pour over the embossing powder.

TIP: I recommend using an Embossing Buddy or anti static tool over the cardstock prior to stamping/ adding embossing powder so you can get a clean stamped and embossed image. Stampin' Up! no longer sells the embossing buddy but you can find it at other craft stores online.

Take your heat tool and set embossing powder. This is a very slim die cut so use tweezers or something to hold the die cut so you do not burn your fingers.

Peel off backing and place your iron gates on either end of the card base. The tombstone will nestle perfectly inbetween. Place tombstone on dimensionals and add to card. If you haven't already added back your tombstone base then glue it back onto the tombstone.

Peel the backing off of the spiderweb and place center in the tombstone.

Take the embossed sentiment (wipe away the anti static powder) and prop up on a dimensional. I placed the sentiment at an angle over top the spiderweb.

Peel away the backing from each owl and perch each owl on either side of iron gates.

I hope you enjoyed this alternative spooky graveyard scene using the Tombstone Treat Boxes.

TODAY'S CARD MEASUREMENTS

Here are the card measurements for today's Fall card - DSP stands for Designer Series Paper:

Card Base (Bumble Bee): 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 - Scored at 4 1/4"

Beauty of the Earth DSP Layer 1 (blue) - 3 1/2 x 4 1/2"

Beauty of the Earth DSP Layer 2 (Leaves) - 4 1/4 x 3 3/4"

Inside Sentiment Layer (Basic White) - 4 x 5 1/4"

Die Cut Layer 1 - Leaf and Branches Wreath in Mossy Meadow

Die Cut Layer 2 - Leaf and Branches Wreath in Old Olive

Die Cut Layer 3 - (8) Pine Cones in Cinnamon Cider and Die Cut

Stamping - Squirrel with Acorn *Outline and Fill* in Cinnamon Cider/ Acorn Fill Cinnamon Cider

Stamping - "Thankful for You" in Cinnamon Cider

Stamping - "May the Sparkle of the Season..." Inside Layer

Embellishment 1: Wink of Stella on the white parts of the squirrel

Embellishment 2: Metallic Dots in Gold on Wreath

Embellishment 3: Gold Shimmer Ribbon Knot on bottom of wreath

This card was so much fun to make! Cut all of your layers and die cuts.

Using your Stampin' Seal you will adhere your leaves DSP pattern layer to the left hand side of the card base. Place the blue DSP layer center also using your Stampin' Seal.

Your base layer wreath in Mossy Meadow will be glued using Fine Tip Glue Pen (but don't forget about adhesive sheets which can turn intricate dies into stickers) and place that center on the blue DSP layer.

Use some Stampin' Dimensionals on the Old Olive wreath but you will have to cut a dimensional down to a smaller size so you can hide them behind the leaves. I used about 4, so not too many needed.

Stamp and Fussy Cut your Squirrel and place him inside the wreath. Add Wink of Stella to white areas on the squirrel. I also used Stampin' Dimensionals on the squirrel to pop him up inside the center of the wreath.

Tie a simple knot in your gold shimmer ribbon and adhere center bottom of wreath. Add your gold brushed metallic adhesive dots all around the wreath. I used 9-10 dots myself, alternating small and large.

Stamp your inside sentiment and add to the inside of the card using Stampin' Seal or Multipurpose Glue, whichever you prefer.

I hope you enjoyed today's project!

ONE CARD THEME - Multiple Occasions! Simple Fun Fold (Inspired by Demonstrator Ronda Wade)

One Card Theme - TWO Different Occasions in this Tutorial/ Video inspired by fellow demonstrator Ronda Wade and one of her favorite fun folds.

This is pretty easy to do and you can get two card bases out of 1 piece of 8 1/2 x 11 Cardstock. I'll definitely use this easy fun fold in the future.

This came about because I have teacher appreciation on the brain as my son is about to embark on a new elementary school journey and his teacher to be has been so communicative with me even before the school year which I SO APPRECIATE.

But I recognize not everyone has a need for a teacher card or gift and so I thought this would be a great theme for a Christmas card as well.

The Black, White and Red Theme, I confess, came from a video about giving teachers useful gifts from Target. I thought it would be cuter if the card matched the gift card! LOL So here we are.

Before I dive into products and measurements I want to remind you that it is SALE-A-BRATION time from 8/3-9/30/2021! Shop with me here and earn FREE Sale-a-Bration rewards during those dates: SHOP WITH ME I would love to earn your business if you do not already have a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Did I mention the paper on the Christmas card is one of the items to can get for free with a $50 purchase? Yep! It's true!

Onto the details:

PRODUCTS FOR THE TEACHER CARD

  • Basic White Cardstock
  • Gingham Ribbon
  • Brights 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper (Poppy Parade Sheets a.k.a. Red Paper)
  • Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set
  • Frightful Tags Dies
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink

PRODUCTS FOR THE CHRISTMAS CARD

  • Basic White Cardstock
  • Gingham Ribbon
  • Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set
  • Frightful Tags Dies
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper (EARN THIS FREE during Sale-a-Bration)!
  • Black Glitter Paper
  • Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels
CARD MEASUREMENTS (BOTH CARDS):

Card Base - Cut 8 1/2 x 11 Basic White Sheet in half - cut at 4 1/4 (and leave at 11 inches in length)
Score each card base at 5 1/2 inch mark
Cut each card base at 2 3/4" from the score line

Designer Series Paper Layer Measurements
Cut 2 pieces at 2 1/2 x 4" (For the teacher card I chose to cut two different patterns for contrast but you can use the same DSP for both if you like)
Cut 1 piece (Poppy Parade paper) at 2-9/16 x 4-1/16"

Cut Layering Piece for inside of the card at 4 x 5 1/4"

Cut Basic White piece (for inside sentiment) to 2 3/4 x 4 1/4"

You will need to die cut the pretty shape tag from the Frightful Tags dies for the outside sentiment (both cards so cut two while you're at it)

You will also need to die cut the stars (one pass will get you 6 stars!) - Also pictured above.

Note: I like to wrap the ribbon behind the Poppy Parade Designer Series Paper layer. - Also pictured above. Then I thread a second piece of ribbon through and tie a bow (sideways) - Also pictured above.

SLIGHT CHANGES WITH CHRISTMAS Card:

The layering piece on this card that is 1/16th of an inch bigger than the 2 1/2 x 4 layer is the Black Glitter Paper and it goes on the outer sentiment rectangle (horizontal) instead of vertical on the teacher card.

I used the reverse side of the Designer Series Paper for the decorative piece featuring the deer.

I added red rhinestones to the center of the snowflakes and the bow is tied and adhered with a glue dot.

The edge of the tag die cut is colored in with the Stampin' Blend in Real Red Dark to create a simple frame look. This one is also positioned vertically instead of horizontally on the teacher card.

I appreciate you stopping by today! I'd love to know what you think of the cards. Leave a comment and let me know!

Have a great day and HAPPY CRAFTING!

Does it get any cuter than Penguin Place? NEW Catalog and Sale-a-Bration Goodies in Action!

PENGUIN PLACE BUNDLE & SALE-A-BRATION DESIGNER SERIES PAPER

Here is the edited replay from Facebook Live. I will often edit out all of the talk during the livestream and shorten the video for those who may want to go back to re-create the card. If you love the conversational part of these livestreams I leave the original lives on my Facebook page that you can watch at any time.

There are those items when I first go through a new catalog that I know I HAVE to have and Penguin Place (the bundle) fit that bill.

Since it isn't quite Winter yet I decided to go with a birthday card but the same holds true for seasonal or winter theme cards as Christmas cards - the more you make ahead of time the easier it will be when you have to send out these adorable birthday cards and make someone's day! Especially consider those kids/ loved ones that have birthdays close to holidays. Giving them an extra special, extra sparkly, extra cute card will make his/her day!

You can find the Penguin Place Bundle in the new July to December 2021 Mini Catalog from Stampin' Up! or in the Stampin' Up! store. The coordinating penguin designer series paper can be found (for a limited time) in the Sale-a-Bration brochure that runs from August 3-September 30, 2021 or while supplies last.

If you are new to Sale-a-Bration, Stampin' Up! offers rewards when you spend $50 or $100 (before tax). You get to choose items from the Sale-a-Bration brochure for free and the penguin paper is one of those items. This is the first time this promotion is being offered in August/ September with holiday themes. It's a great time to stock up and earn free products.

Ready to Shop and Earn free rewards? Click here to shop

Here are the products I used on today's card:

  • Penguin Place Bundle (new Mini Catalog)
  • Penguin Playmates 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper (Sale-a-Bration Item)
  • Black Glitter Paper
  • Fresh Freesia Cardstock and Ink
  • Basic White Cardstock
  • Calypso Coral Ink and Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Black and White Gingham Ribbon (new Mini Catalog)
  • Basic Rhinestone Jewels
  • Stampin' Seal +

Card Measurements:

  • Card Base (Fresh Freesia): 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 - Scored at 4 1/4"
  • Penguin Playmates DSP: 3 1/2 x  3 3/4
  • Black Glitter Paper: 4 x 4 1/4
  • Basic White Cardstock Strip: 1 x 3 3/4
  • Black Glitter Paper Strip: 1 1/2 x 3 3/4
  • Inside Card Layer: 4 x 5 1/4"
  • Gingham Ribbon (I used about 17 1/2 Inches)

About the card design:

This card is so cute! The only things I would mention is to make sure you can see your penguin playmates on the designer series paper layer because they are so cute! You don't need to see all three but I recommend cutting the paper so you can see a few of them.

For what would be the penguin's feet - I actually turned them into hands! Just punch out two with the Black Glitter Paper and I positioned them on the flippers so they looked liked the hands were holding the present.

I love the Black Glitter Paper (a returning favorite in the new Mini "holiday" catalog) for the Penguin Place bundle and particularly, for the punched out penguins. So cute!

If you want to dress up the inside of your card, take the Basic White cardstock layer and create a fun border with the snowflake stamp. I chose Fresh Freesia ink for this but any color would be beautiful.

Coordinating Stampin' Up! Colors:

I just wanted to show you the color combo Stampin' Up! chose for this fun Designer Series Paper (available in the Sale-a-Bration brochure). This is often how I choose what I my inks and cardstocks will be. I like to create fun charts. This is the balloon stamp from the Penguin Place stamp set.

Paper Pumpkin Alternate Card Ideas (July 2021) The Adventure Begins

Hello! It's no secret that I love Paper Pumpkin and they really had fun with the July 2021 The Adventure Begins kit. It was a fun fold kit and it's full of alternate possibilities.

Check out the video tutorial here:

Here is a fun tip if you are interested in making the campfire. I used the ghost in the brand new Halloween Punch *available tomorrow* 8/3/21 to customers. I punched three of them to create the fire look with Stampin' Blends.

Campfire Card Measurements:
Balmy Blue Card Base - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 - Scored at 4 1/4"
Basic White Layer 1: 3 x 4 1/2" (scene)
Basic White Layer 2: 3 1/8 x 4 5/8" (frame)
Embellishment #1: 3 Ghosts punched out and shaded in Stampin' Blends
Embellishment #2: 3 Early Espresso Logs using Timber 3D Embossing Folder (1/2 to 3/4 x 3 or 3 1/2 inches - sizes varied based on scraps)

Stamp Sentiments & Fire Flies around the edge of the card base in Garden Green
Stamp and Sponge on trees to create forest scene. Dab Early Espresso around the bottom of each tree to create a dirt ground look

Creating a Starry Sky with Stampin' Blends: I used Misty Moonlight and Light and Balmy Blue Dark to blend a sky from darkest in the tree line to the lightest color at the top of the sky. Blend Balmy Blue between the trees to create that alcohol outline look around the trees.

Create Flames with Stampin' Blends: Start with the darkest color at the center/ bottom of each flame and create a halo around it with the next shade in line, slightly blending the darker color into the lighter color. Do this over and over with each shade until finished. My color combo: Cajun Craze Light, Poppy Parade Dark, Pumpkin Pie Dark, Pumpkin Pie Light, Daffodil Delight Dark, Daffodil Delight Light.

Create Logs: I used the squared off edge on the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch to create my log edges.

Start adhering your layers and embellishments in the adhesive of your choice.

Inside layer optional. I recommend Basic White 4 x 5 1/4" for the inside of the card.

Shaker Card Measurements:
Crushed Curry Card Base - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 - Scored at 4 1/4"
Paper Pumpkin Lantern Card Cut into two layers, the window/lantern layer and the background layer. I removed the white piece and saved for another project or you can use that for the inside sentiment layer of the card.
Trim 1/8" off of each Paper Pumpkin Card layer (all around each layer - all 4 sides)
Cut Down Window Sheet to 3 3/4 x 3 3/4"
Trim 1 Inch off of the Banner Sentiment included in the Paper Pumpkin kit
Inside Card Layer Recommended 4 x 5 1/4"

To Create a Shaker Card:
First, stamp your fire flies on the 2 Paper Pumpkin card layers where you see the white glowy circles on their printed card patterns. You can also stamp your "Let Your Light Shine" sentiment onto the banner. You will use Crushed Curry ink for the fire flies and sentiment.

Stamp a border around the Crushed Curry Card Base in Garden Green using the stamp from the Paper Pumpkin kit that looks like sprinkles for ice cream. You only need a 1/4" border to show on the card base so you don't have to get the border stamping perfect. Stamp edges in Garden Green.

Adhere your window sheet to the die cut lantern layer so the frame is completely sealed by the window sheet. Also be sure you add a glue or adhesive dot to the lantern so it adheres to the window sheet as well. So I chose Tear and Tape Adhesive to adhere that window sheet on the back of that die cut lantern frame layer.

Next, You will take the foam strips adhesive to square in the frame again. I like to isolate the square die cut so you can really see the sequins in the shaker. I add a little extra reinforcement at the bottom of the card. See video tutorial for more details.

Once you are sure your sequins will not get outside of the foam adhesive strips, you can lay your sequins (I chose sequins for everything) right onto the window square. Peel off the strips on the foam strips and add the back Paper Pumpkin layer. This is the image with the branch at the top. Match up the edges and adhere.

You now have a shaker layer! You will take the back of the shaker layer and glue it to the card base. Add your sentiment banner to the lower right of your card base and voila! Super cute shaker card! Screams Summer Camp glow!

I chose the gold/ orange/ brown sequin color combo because it so perfectly matched the lantern from Paper Pumpkin.

Optional: Gluing your inside sentiment layer.

Shake away!

This will fit in the envelopes provided in the Paper Pumpkin kit but it will be a tight fit and Shaker cards require extra postage. So worth it! If you want to avoid postage fees, ship with a gift package or slip it into an in-person gift or event. You will surprise & delight them and shakers are so easy with these Paper Pumpkin cards!!!!!!!!

My final card I did not put together in the video because it is the same exact concept as the first card just with different measurements. Card base is the same size in Basic White. I covered the entire card front with Early Espresso layer embossed with the brand new Timber 3D embossing folder. NOTE: This embossing folder is one of the goodies you will get when you sign up for the Falliday Stamp a Stack. I'll have info below if you are interested.

I hope you enjoyed and were inspired by these alternate Paper Pumpkin projects.

Now excuse me while I go make some campfire S'mores (on my stove top in my house, lol)

Thank you and Happy Crafting!
