January 2026 Paper Pumpkin VALENTINE ALTERNATE IDEAS & Mini Haul!

Hello! So happy to be here with a VIDEO TUTORIAL and MINI UNBOXING for you today! Tutorial first, unboxing second (stay tuned to the end if you want to see what I got)!

It's FREEZING outside today (at least where I am) so let's stay inside and make pretty alternate cards with the January 2026 Paper Pumpkin Kit: Special Delivery...

I received a special request to work with the flower stamp and it was definitely on my to-do list but I really appreciate the request and this one is for you, Dara!

Today is all about that beautiful flower stamp in the kit! It's a rose, right? I mean, I think it is but correct me if I'm wrong.

Start by cutting your Bubble Bath card base (with no pattern) in half and then trimming down to (2) 4 x 5-1/4" pieces using your Paper Trimmer.

Cut (2) Poppy Parade card bases with one sheet of 8-1/2 x 11" cardstock. Score first at 5-1/2" and then cut at 4-1/4" giving you two card bases.

Cut (3) Basic White 4 x 5-1/4" pieces. One will go under the Bubble Bath layer on your card front and the other two are inserts for your Poppy Parade card bases.

SNEAK PEEK TIME!
  1. Brand New Stampin' Positioner! This will be an exclusive starter kit item in February!
  2. Scalloped Wishes Bundle! This will be a March Online Exclusives release!
Why am I using these now? Because they are pretty and also because when you purchase the starter kit in February you'll get the Stampin' Positioner for FREE and you can put March exclusive preorder items in your Starter Kit!!!!!!! More on that later. Today is just a sneak peek...

First use: I LOVED the new positioner tool!

Next we'll do some repeat stamping with that beautiful flower stamp in the January 2026 Paper Pumpkin kit!

Get out your Stampin' Blends and have fun coloring some flowers:
  • Bubble Bath
  • Poppy Parade
  • Granny Apple Green
  • Old Olive
You can choose the color combinations. I recommend playing with color combinations until you find the one you like.

TIP: Use kit design elements (like the flower die cut) to inspire your coloring. I had actually colored several in pink and red before remembering the kit flower has a defined red line and is colored in pink so I repeated that design and loved the result of this combo for my alternate card!

While we try to soft blend I intentionally hard lined that in red and loved the look! And it's quicker and easier than technique blending!

Card 1: Red and Pink Color Combo Blends

For the second version I focused on all red for the flowers (Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends) and turned the fussy cut flowers into a border edge on top and bottom of the card. LOVE LOVE LOVED THIS LOOK!

Both cards have 6 flowers from the full size stamp but colored and arranged slightly differently.

On the red rose card, I did add a seventh flower but I trimmed off the leaves and outer layer of petals so I could fit it at the bottom of my lacy oval.

Bottom center oval is trimmed down flower

Here you can see what I trimmed off
This is great way to extend the life of your kit once your paper pieces are gone!

NOTE: The Granny Apple Green & Old Olive Stampin' Blends are on backorder so use whatever greens you have in your blends collection.

You can see two different combinations of scalloped ovals dies and stamps from the bundle that will be out in March (Scalloped Wishes) or in February if you add to your starter kit...

The sentiments are both stamps from the January Paper Pumpkin kit "Sending Love" and "Happy Valentines." For the smaller scalloped oval die cut I recommend positioning the stamps horizontally but pictured I did manage to squeeze "sending love" in vertically! It was tight but it fit!

I will take a deeper dive into all of the pieces and combinations of the Scalloped Wishes bundle in another video but even just focusing on the ovals today, look at the wow factor and the possibilities!
Card on Left: Smaller lacy oval frame in Poppy Parade
Card on Right: Larger lacy oval frame in Poppy Parade

Before I go, remember:

More to come on that soon!

How to Make WOW Alternate Cards with Paper Pumpkin Envelopes! Special Delivery Alternate Card Idea

Today I have another alternate card idea for you using the January 2026 Paper Pumpkin Kit: Special Delivery.

For this "alternate" card I will be using a coordinating color cardstock for the card base:

  • Blueberry Bushel Cardstock
  • 4-1/2 x 11" Score: 5-1/2"
  • Basic White Insert (cut with Perennial Postage Die in 3-1/2 x 5"
Note: This card will fit in a Paper Pumpkin Kit envelope.

I will also be using the Blueberry Bushel Classic Stampin' Pad and adding Brushed Brass Butterflies embellishments to this card (3 of them)

One of the best things about this embellishment is that they are flat unlike a pearl if you take that into consideration when mailing your cards.

For this card you will use your Paper Trimmer to cut along the dark green line from the above pictured kit layer die cut to separate the inside from the postage frame.

Save that inside panel for another card. For this card it's the postage frame we want!

Next...

Take those adorable patterned envelopes from your kit and cut them up! You can get so many pieces by trimming or die cutting these envelopes and using them as DSP! This is one of my favorite things to do with Paper Pumpkin alternates. This kit has 3 different color envelopes too and 9 total! If you get the refill you can really have fun with this!

I cut these up with the Perennial Postage Dies and I used the Blue Envelope with the white label center for the card front. 3-1/4 x 4-1/2" is the measurement of the Perennial Postage Die used.

Place the blue floral bouquet die cut from the kit in the white label center with dimensionals.

Stamp "Just for You" from the kit stamp set onto the back of the banner die cut in Blueberry Bushel ink.

NOTE: The banner is actually shaded pink but if you use the back it's white.

Add 3 Brushed Brass Butterflies and you have a beautiful alternate card!

Don't forget you still have time to EARN bonus days coupons! Earn $5 coupon for every $50 spent until 2/2/26! You can start redeeming February 3 - 28, 2026!

The refill for the January Paper Pumpkin Kit is available *while supplies last*

What is a refill for a Paper Pumpkin Kit? It's the consumable pieces (card bases, envelopes, die cuts)
It does NOT include the stamp set or ink spot.

You must be an active Paper Pumpkin subscriber to purchase refills, past kits and add on items (like the Beautiful Blooms Dies).

While we are chatting about the fabulousness of Paper Pumpkin... get subscribed now to receive February's Celebrate Spring Kit!

Let's Turn the Special Delivery Paper Pumpkin Box Art into a Card!

Today we are making a card inspired by the artwork on the front of the Paper Pumpkin box for January 2026 "Special Delivery." I do not have a video for today's card but I do have the step by step instructions below.

This is a fun project! I will be doing some die cutting for this alternate card and I will add my own embellishments but the majority of the pieces on the card are from the kit!

I love to add in the coordinating colors when I make alternate cards. Use what you have! I chose Poppy Parade and Basic White cardstock for this card to re-create that logo image.

Note: The Perennial Postage dies are a great match to the rectangle die in Beautiful Blooms.

The reason I trimmed the outer layer of petals
off of the flower was to fit the "Beautiful" die cut.

I also trimmed the leaves into several pieces
and cut the blue floral bouquet die cut in half

*This is the "add on" die set that coordinates with this Paper Pumpkin Kit and February and March.

I love love love the way this card turned out!

I hope you enjoy making this project too!

Don't worry, even if you used the pieces in your kit the refill for the Special Delivery kit is available!

What's in My First Order of 2026

Technically, my first order of 2026 was my January Paper Pumpkin kit and I just got my shipment notification today (yay) but I'm going to share what I recently ordered...

1.) The add-on dies "Beautiful Blooms" for Jan, Feb and March Paper Pumpkin Kits...

Why? Honestly, I collect them and it's in my budget and I'll be getting all of the kits that pair with it. Plus, if you like to make alternate projects like I do it's a must have.

https://www.stampinup.com/products/beautiful-blooms-dies?demoid=2212777

2.) Easter Joy Specialty Designer Series Paper

Why? Because I LOVE making Easter cards and this will help the February Paper Pumpkin kit go a long way (alternates).

Did I want the suite? Yes, but when the budget is tight and I know I have a stamp set coming in the kit that will work with this paper I decided to pass on stamp and die set (for now)... I may change my mind but I'm thinking this will work.

3.) Balmy Blue Gingham Ribbon

It's gingham. I couldn't resist!

Also, I need to add some ribbon to my collection for Spring 2026

NOTE: I wish they would do a gingham ribbon for one of our color collections! Wouldn't that be fun?

Images (c) Stampin' Up!

4.) Easter Assortment

While I anticipate the Paper Pumpkin kit will have fun embellishments I couldn't pass up the Easter Assortment.

Also, I need to add some pastel embellishments for Spring 2026. I am really low (surprisingly low) on embellishments right now.

Images (c) Stampin' Up!

5.) Multipurpose Liquid Glue

No explanation needed for this one. Am I right?

NOTE: However, how thrilling would it be to see one of these in a Paper Pumpkin Kit? It's on my wish list that they add some different types of glue occasionally outside of the adhesive dots and dimensionals, but that might be a kit collector thing too. For those of us who get 12 kits a year we have enough dimensionals to fully stock six craft rooms and I love dimensionals, don't get me wrong, but a crafter can dream right?

Images (c) Stampin' Up!

Now, I do want to mention something taking a look at the February 2026 Paper Pumpkin Kit's color palette...

3 of the 6 colors are OUTGOING In Colors meaning they retire when the new Annual catalog launches in a couple of months (Shy Shamrock, Pretty in Pink, Peach Pie, Summer Splash and Petunia Pop).

I know it's only January but if you love these colors and your are low on cardstock or re-inkers or any of the In Color products for 2024-2026 Collection you shouldn't wait on those and Bonus Days is a great time to pick them up.

Since I won't quite make the Valentine's Day timeline in terms of getting back on to a filming schedule with card videos for you, I'm jumping ahead to Easter!

What was in your first order of 2026?

PERSONAL UPDATE: PLANS FOR JANUARY

My son started at a new school last August and it's a been a long commute and a big adjustment for both of us. We drive about an hour each way (on good traffic days) everyday. He has been on Winter break which has given us both time to decompress and enjoy the holidays but tomorrow we are back on the road and back to school.

Because its such a long drive it does not make sense for me to drive home and then drive back down to get him, so I have been spending my time in Pittsburgh visiting family, running errands and helping when I can. I asked my mom if I could create a temporary work space at her house and she was agreeable, but there have been many challenges between September and now that I was not anticipating and the initial plan to create this space did not happen.

Then there was illness and hospitalization in December but my mom is back home and feeling better, thank goodness.

Then it was Christmas and Winter break.

I realize now that I've had some time to reflect that we actually got a lot accomplished, but because I didn't get to accomplish that craft space goal I felt very deflated and frustrated, and if I'm being honest, I've felt this way for some time. That saying about moving the goal post comes to mind...

My family is always my priority and I know the sacrifices are worth it, but I also know I have to find a way to carve in some time for myself, for my sanity and also find a way to get back to work.

Now that it's a New Year one of my goals is to get back to the plan of creating this temporary work space. While it's not realistic to work from her home everyday under the current circumstances, my goal is to start with one day each week dedicated to this project. I plan on this day being Tuesdays because that's also Stampin' Up!'s "update" days for demonstrators.

I am going to spend January trying to get the space set up and hopefully filming by February. I will keep you posted!

Lots more updates coming tomorrow! I absolutely love launch days!

Happy crafting!
