Now, let's talk about the card:

CARD MEASUREMENTS:
  • Card Base: 8 x 9" Score: 4" (Calypso Coral Cardstock)
  • Layer 1: DSP (Cobblestone Pattern): 3-3/4 x 8-3/4"
  • 3 Shops Fussy Cut from DSP
  • 2 Fussy Cut Potted Plants from DSP
  • 2 Die Cut Street Lamps
  • 1 Die Cut Nested Essentials 1-1/2 x 2-1/8" Stitched Rectangle with Rounded Edges (Basic Black Cardstock)
  • 1 Die Cut Nested Essentials 1 x 1-3/4" Stitched Rectangle with Rounded Edges (Basic White Cardstock)
  • 2 Wild Wheat Dots (from 2023-2025 In Color Dots)
INSTRUCTIONS:

Fussy cut the desired shops from Les Shoppes Designer Series Paper. Fussy cut a couple of potted plants. Die cut lamp posts. Die cut sentiment and layering piece from Nested Essentials dies.

Stamp "Wish you were here" in Calypso Coral ink onto the sentiment die cut in white.

Create a light shadow behind your shops on the cobblestone pattern DSP with a Small Blending Brush and a gray or black ink. Tap off ink from blending brush before swirling onto the DSP to soften the look. Place your shadow at top or side of each shop.

Glue the DSP to card base. Assemble your scene of shops and lamps. Once you have your layout, add dimensionals to shops. I used glue dots to adhere lamp posts.

Place sentiment above one of the shops where it fits depending on your scene.

Add Wild Wheat dots to create the look of a glowing bulb inside the lamp posts.

NOTE: I recommend adding an insert in Basic White to the inside of the card as well. 3-3/4 x 8-3/4"

I hope you enjoyed today's card project!

Happy Crafting!

May 2023 Paper Pumpkin ALTERNATE CARD IDEAS: Faux Window Technique, Tags...

Coordinating Colors for the May 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit

Card 1 of the May 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit
Faux Window Technique

Card 2 of the May 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit
Faux Window Technique

Card 3 of the May 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit
Faux Window Technique

FAUX WINDOW CARD
Note: All three cards featuring this technique have the same exact measurements.

CARD MEASUREMENTS

• Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2" Score: 4-1/4" (Basic White Cardstock)
• Layer (cut from Paper Pumpkin Card Front) 3-3/4 x 4-1/2"

INSTRUCTIONS

Cut the Paper Pumpkin card base in half.
Trim panel down to 3-3/4 x 4-1/2" Cut (5) 3/4" strips length wise with paper trimmer.
Take each 3/4" strip and cut into (3) 1-1/2" pieces.

I recommend keeping your pieces in order as you cut (so you don't mix up where the pieces go). Keep your Basic White card base nearby and start to build your scene as you cut your strips into 1-1/2" pieces that will start to look like window panels.

My goal was about an 1/8" in-between each panel but I admit I wasn't perfectly precise. For myself, I waited until all of the pieces were laid out before I started gluing the pieces so I could eyeball the layout. If you want to glue as you go you can do that too. I used multipurpose glue for this.

Stamp your greeting at the bottom of the card.

May Paper Pumpkin Card + Gone Fishing Bundle
2023-2025 Gift Bags (Boho Blue) & Jute Trim

INTERACTIVE FISHING/ RETIRMENT CARD

CARD MEASUREMENTS

• Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2" Score: 4-1/4" (Basic White Cardstock)
• Layer (cut from Paper Pumpkin Card Front) 4 x 5-1/4"
• Die Cut (from Paper Pumpkin Kit)
• Piece of twine (from Paper Pumpkin Kit) about 4 or 5 inches
• Fish (fussy cut from Let's Go Fishing DSP)

INSTRUCTIONS

Trim the card front (with water scene) down to 4 x 5-1/4" Use the die from Gone Fishing Bundle that makes a ripple water effect (there is a large and small die of this - I used the larger die) place it in the center near the darker part of the water and die cut with your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.

Fussy cut (or stamp) a fish. I used the Let's Go Fishing DSP and fussy cut a larger fish.

Using a small piece of Tear & Tape, glue the twine to the back of the fish and DO NOT remove the backing of tear and tape. Place it in the die cut ripple water about half in the water. Or, wait until you add dimensionals to back of layer and then add your fish.

I recommend foam strips but I was out of them so you can also use regular Stampin' dimensionals.

Once you tuck the fish into the water, you should be able to interactively pull the fish out with the twine! If you do not want the fish to move, just glue it instead.

May Paper Pumpkin Card + Nested Essentials Dies
2023-2025 Gift Bags (Moody Mauve) & Jute Trim

CARD MEASUREMENTS

• Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2" Score: 4-1/4" (Basic White Cardstock)
• Layer 1 (Moody Mauve Panel from Exploring In Color Add-On Card ) 4-1/8 x 5-3/8"
• Layer 2 (Forest Scene from Paper Pumpkin Kit Card - Back Panel) 4 x 5-1/4"
• Layer 3 Die Cut (Moody Mauve Panel from Exploring In Color Add-On Card ) Nested Essentials (Largest Die)
• Layer 4 Die Cut (Tent Scene from Paper Pumpkin Kit Card) 2nd Largest Nested Essential Die Cut
• Layer 5 Sentiment Banner Die Cut from Kit - Trim to 1-3/4"

INSTRUCTIONS

Emboss the two pieces of Moody Mauve (from the back panel of add-on cards) with the Twisted Rope 3D Embossing Folder using the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.

Glue the Moody Mauve panel first. Then glue the Paper Pumpkin Forest Scene Card layer next. Glue the Moody Mauve Nested Essential die to the right side of the card. Pop the tent die cut on dimensionals and nest it inside the larger piece of same shape.

Stamp Congrats in Wild Wheat ink and trim the banner down to 1-3/4" Add to bottom left of card with dimensionals.

CREATING GIFT TAGS FROM ENVELOPES & SCENE CARDS

This is optional but a fun way to re-purpose the scenes and patterns on the envelopes. Because June is such a huge month for weddings, anniversaries, graduations, birthdays, FATHER'S DAY...

I wanted to touch on gift packaging and tags with this kit.

I am using the Tailor Made Tags Dies here along with the Gone Fishing stamp set, 2023-2025 In Color Jute Twine and Gift Bags.

Place tags on the scenes or envelope borders and cut where desired. Stamp desired greetings in the white space.

If you would like to cut some of the scenes into tag size, I recommend the largest tag and then don't cover it. Just pair with a smaller tag and place the sentiment on the smaller tag or hand write your note or message or gift tag "To" "From" on the back of the big tag!

Thread with twine from the kit or Jute Twine in coordinating color. I hope you enjoyed today's alternate card projects with the May 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit!

May 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit Unboxing & Assembling Cards

Hello! The May 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit is here! It just arrived today so this video will be an unboxing and assembly of the kit. I will do alternate cards in a future video!

I do have some important links for you regarding the May and June Paper Pumpkin Add-Ons...

The May Kit has an add-on still available for active Paper Pumpkin customers. I will include that link below.

Exploring In Color Cards & Envelopes Add-On: https://www.stampinup.com/products/exploring-in-color-cards-envelopes?hostcode=2XMBUUZ6

The June Paper Pumpkin Kit subscription period is open, meaning you have until 6/10/23 to subscribe to the June kit which is great news! It is called "Welcome Inn."

Subscribe to Paper Pumpkin here: https://www.paperpumpkin.com/en-us/sign-up/?demoid=2212777

This June kit will also have an add-on! They are a set of 3 dies that will coordinate with the June stamp set. A set of dies has only been available with one prior kit and they sold out quickly so my advice is not to wait on the add-on. Add-ons, refills and past kits are WHILE SUPPLIES LAST. You also have to be an active subscriber to purchase those.

CARD 1 - Features Grassy Grove Stamps and Grove Dies

CARD MEASUREMENTS

  • Card Base:5-1/2 x 8-1/2" Score at 4-1/4" (Basic White Cardstock)
  • Layer: Exploring In Color Cards & Envelopes (Scene Card with Moody Mauve Back) trimmed down to 3-3/4 x 5-1/8"
  • 2023-2025 In Color Treat Bag (Boho Blue) Trimmed Down to 4-1/4 x 5-1/2"
  • Die Cut Tree Scene in Basic White Cardstock (Grove Dies and largest Deckled Rectangle Die) Size: 3-3/4 x 5-1/8"
  • Die Cut Banner from Nested Essentials Dies (Second to Smallest Banner - 1-1/8 x 1-3/4")
  • 2023-2025 In Color Dots (3 in Boho Blue)

INSTRUCTIONS

First, create your forest scene by stamping the trio of trees from the Grassy Grove Stamp Set repeatedly on the top and sides of the die cut tree scene. Start with Mossy Meadow, then stamp again in Old Olive and then finish with a few of the same pattern from the tree stamp in Parakeet Party. The concept here is to create realistic texture of trees with the tree stamp. Stamp in any direction. It's ok to stamp in layers and colors to create that scene. See video for instruction as well, if needed. You should end up with lush looking trees!

There is also a grassy mound stamp and use this to create a "grassy" look on that bottom strip. You can also remove the bottom piece if you want to show the water on the pre-printed card. I chose to cover it and stamp the bottom of the tree scene. Repeat in the same colors and repeat stamp pattern to create grassy texture.

Take the "Deep" combo from the Natural Tones Stampin' Blends, use the lighter of the two colors in this combo pack (or a dark brown shade) and color in the tree trunks and branches. My personal opinion: it's ok to be messy here and color over any green that may have been stamped while creating the leafy tree look. It's ok to be messy and imperfect here.

Place the foam adhesive strips around the frame and set aside.

Trim down that scene to the size of the die. Add the Grassy Grove die cut over the scene.

Glue the treat bag plaid layer to the card front. I do not recommend multipurpose glue here. I recommend Seal or Tear and Tape because this layer is very thin and "wet" glue might show through or wrinkle the paper.

Place dimensionals on the back of the scene now and add to card.

Stamp "See the good" from Grassy Grove in Boho Blue ink on the banner die cut. Add a 1/4" strip (same pattern from treat bag) to the top of the banner with Seal. Add 3 Boho Blue Dots, if desired.

CARDS 2 & 3 - Same Card Base, Different Stamp Sets

The card with the girl: Coffee with Friends Stamp Set/ The Bear is from Wildlife Wonder Stamp Set (same card background)

CARD MEASUREMENTS (with the girl)

  • Card Base:4-1/4 x 11" Score at 5-1/2" (Basic White Cardstock)
  • Layer: Exploring In Color Cards & Envelopes (Vertical Scene w/ Copper Clay Back) trimmed down to 4 x 5-3/8"
  • 2023-2025 In Color Treat Bag (Wild Wheat) Trimmed Down to 4-1/4 x 5-1/2"
  • Piece of Basic White Cardstock large enough to stamp the girl with coffee (same with the bear card)
  • Die Cut Banner from Nested Essentials Dies (Second to Smallest Banner - 1-1/8 x 1-3/4")
  • 2023-2025 In Color Dots (3 in Boho Blue)

INSTRUCTIONS

Stamp girl holding coffee in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink from the Coffee with Friends Stamp Set.

Color girl with Stampin' Blends in the Following Colors:

  • Shirt - Daffodil Delight Dark
  • Pants/ Flip Flop Shoes - Night of Navy Combo
  • Skintone - Light - Natural Tone Stampin' Blends
  • Hair - Deep - Natural Tone Stampin' Blends
  • Coffee Mug - Gray Granite

Fussy cut image. Add Stampin' Dimensionals and position her so she looks like she's sitting on the rock on the path.

Glue the treat bag layer to card front (same recommendation as prior card instructions here concerning treat bag). Then add the scene layer.

Stamp sentiment in Wild Wheat ink "Thinking of You" from the Coffee with Friends Stamp Set onto the banner die cut (banner is sideways here) Add dimensionals and place top left on card. Add 3 dots in Boho Blue if desired.

THE BEAR VERSION OF THE CARD

NOTE: The bear on the other card and sentiment are from Wildlife Wonder. The bear is also colored with the Deep and Medium Deep Stampin' Blends tones. On the bear card, there is no layer. It's just the card base from the Exploring In Color set. Sentiment is stamped in Copper Clay ink.

CARD 4

This card pairs the add-on card with Coffee with Friends Stamp Set

CARD MEASUREMENTS

  • Card Base: Exploring In Color Card Base with Scene and Boho Blue Back)
  • Piece of Basic White Cardstock large enough to stamp the girls on the bench with coffee

INSTRUCTIONS

Stamp the girls holding coffees on the bench in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink from the Coffee with Friends Stamp Set onto Basic White cardstock.

Color the girls and bench with Stampin' Blends in the following colors and/ or color combinations:

  • BENCH - Bronze/ Ivory Combo with a third medium brown shade (like a latte or crumb cake shade)/ Gray Granite and Smoky Slate for Metal on Bench
  • GIRL #1 - Deep Natural Tone, Basic Black Hair, Flirty Flamingo and Crumb Cake for Clothes/ Shoes
  • GIRL #2 - Medium Light Tone, Cajun Craze Hair, Old Olive and Night of Navy for Shirt and Pants
  • Coffees - Touch of Gray Granite Light on lids, Touch of Crumb Cake light on cup

Fussy cut image. Use a craft knife (if you have one) to cut the details inbetween the slats on the bench. Not necessary but really adds to the final card when you can see background through the bench! Very realistic.

Add dimensionals when you are finished coloring and add to the card base! Lower right corner.

Stamp sentiment in Copper Clay directly on the card. I chose "You mean so much to me" from Wildlife Wonder Stamp Set.

I hope you enjoyed today's card project! Yes, I know it's unusual to work with the add-on before the Paper Pumpkin kit coordinating with it even ships but hopefully this shows how fabulous they are on their own and with a few different stamp sets.

We will create more alternates when the Paper Pumpkin kit arrives! So stay tuned! In the meantime, here is what the May Paper Pumpkin Kit looks like:
