INSTRUCTIONS

I recommend two different patterns to create a "quilt" look with this basic weaving technique. While there are many different ways you can weave paper I am going with the simplest option today.

Using Countryside Inn (or desired) DSP, choose one pattern to cut vertical strips. The reason I mention vertical and horizontal is because depending on your pattern, you may need to keep that direction of that pattern in mind. For example, one sheet had rabbits on it that I wanted to keep upright so I chose that pattern for the vertical strips and a different pattern for the horizontal strips where the direction didn't matter. Just something to be mindful of with this technique.

Line up the four 5 inch strips first.

Take the first 4 inch strip and think "over/ under." I personally like to secure this first strip with a dab of glue on each strip as I go to secure it. This will make it easier to weave the other strips.

Start with "over" meaning the 4 inch horizontal strip gets glued to the top of the first 5 inch strip.

Then place the 4 inch strip under the next 5 inch strip. Then over the next 5 inch strip and under the last 5 inch strip. So, OVER/ UNDER/ OVER/ UNDER

Slide the next 4 inch strip in the UNDER/ OVER/ UNDER/ OVER position. You want to weave first and then bring this piece up as close as possible to the first 4 inch strip. This is where you can really start to see the pattern begin.

Next 4 inch strip: OVER/ UNDER/ OVER/ UNDER

Next 4 inch strip: UNDER/ OVER/ UNDER/ OVER

Last 4 inch strip: OVER/ UNDER/ OVER/ UNDER

Glue as desired. I just place small dabs usually on the end flaps. If there are any edges that are a little long or short, or maybe if the line up isn't perfect, just trim off those edges with your paper trimmer.

And now you have your paper weaving layer!

This is GREAT for sampler packs, paper shares, scraps and just your favorite pattern papers!

Now, just assemble your card. Place the layer cardstock piece on the card front. Glue and secure your weaved layer to the card front.

Finish with stamped sentiment on a die cut. I used Cheerful Daisies for the stamps and Something Fancy dies for the dies for this project.

I hope you enjoyed today's card projects! If you like flat cards are not extra postage to mail then you will like this card idea as well!
