The countdown to the catalog6 going live is on! Tomorrow, January 4th we can finally open those catalogs with you online and you can start ordering the brand-new products!
ujI was inspired by "JanB Cards" on YouTube - she is a UK Demonstrator - to make this particular fun fold card. She has such a fun tutorial and I decided to create my own version with the new Sunshine and Rainbows Designer Series Paper (available tomorrow as a Sale-a-Bration reward). More on that later...
Let's go over what you'll need to make these cheerful cards but, first...

A few items to note if you need variations to your card:
I chose to heat emboss my sentiments in white which means my cardstock for the sentiments are in bold colors (Bermuda Bay and Magenta Madness) and not in white like JanB chose to do. I made some variations to my card based on the theme and sentiment sizes. Keep in mind I am using different stamps and Designer Series Paper. If you'd prefer to stamp on Basic White Cardstock with color inks and not do any heat embossing, that is definitely possible either swap out the color cardstock for white, or plan to add an additional layer in Basic White - make sure sizing works for the sentiments you choose.
If you are new to fun folds I encourage you to try this card! What fun it is to play with and enjoy when it's done and propped up! This card is soooo cheerful! Sunshine and Rainbow Designer Series Paper is so much fun to work with!
GLUE PLACEMENT
Sometimes with a fun fold card when you have elements that "pop up" or fold up you need to be mindful of where you place your glue. When you add the square that will pop up (with your main sentiment or greeting on it), only glue the lower half of the square. Only glue the half with the Designer Series Paper layer. The color cardstock (with my card Magenta Madness) will become the back of the easel so no glue should be on this part. If the whole square is glued, the sentiment won't pop up.
Add Stampin' Dimensionals to the sentiment for the stopper to ensure the card stays put popped up.
JanB recommends 1" space between the edge of the card base and the stopper. I went a little further than that, about 1-1/4" with my stopper placement and found it didn't rest as nicely without the dimensionals. So just be aware of that! This is why we experiment, right? I make the mistakes so you don't have to.
When you are gluing your rainbow to the back of the square (that will pop up) also be careful not to get any glue or sticky around the edges of the rainbow. Keep it clean so the card mechanism pops up without any glue or stickiness.
And you're all set! You have a cheerful, sunshine-y rainbow card to say hello to someone you love or miss and it will make their day. It's really really hard to look at a rainbow or a clever card and not smile, you know what I mean?
