Create Simple Backgrounds with a Stamp Set After the Coordinating Design...

Aren't they cute!!!!!!! I have a major fan of Nemo living in my house so it was about time I dusted off this stamp set and created something with it. Problem was I had waited so long the Designer Series Paper that coordinated with it retired and while it was fine to use in my personal life projects (like appreciation gifts for my son's classmates) I did not want to demonstrate retired products to you because, well, that's incredibly frustrating if you can't order what I show.

I decided to study the Designer Series Paper patterns the artists created when they launched the Whale suite and had several immediate takeaways: one character in repeat - splatter - color - simplicity

So, easy enough! I started experimenting with background patterns using Whale Done and Color & Contour stamp sets and found the simpler it was the more I liked it and I hope you find this simple and fun as well.

Cut one sheet of Basic White Cardstock in 12 x 12 into quarters so you end up with FOUR 6 x 6 squares.

Pick your sea creature (above is the super cute turtle)

Pick a background pattern stamp. I chose the splatter stamp from Color & Contour stamp set.

For the TURTLE CARD: Color Combo: Pool Party, Soft Succulent, Basic Black and Basic White.

Stamp your splatter pattern on all four 6 x 6 cardstock squares - all over each one in Pool Party.

Stamp your turtle in Soft Succulent slightly alternating their swimming pattern all over the square.

Stamp your sentiment "My love for you is deeper than the ocean" in Memento Tuxedo Black.

CARD MEASUREMENTS:

5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4" - Pool Party Cardstock Card Base (for all of the cards)

Basic Black Framing Layer ( 1/16" frame around our background paper) cut to 4 1/16 x 5 5/16

Background Stamp Layer 4 x 5 1/4"

Sentiment Layer: Basic White in 3/4 x 2 3/4" & The Frame for Sentiment 1 x 3" in Pool Party Cardstock

Inside Layer: Basic White in 4 x 5 1/4"

Ribbon: 20" of Pool Party (wrap background layer 3 times)

Embellishments: Genial Gems (in green) 3 per card

Whale Color Combo: Misty Moonlight & Pool Party

Jellyfish Color Combo: Gorgeous Grape & Pool Party

I hope you enjoyed today's project! I'd love to hear from you! Leave me a comment and let me know if you enjoy making background patterns with your stamps.

Thank you for spending time with me today and happy crafting!

Sweet Ice Cream Double Flap Gatefold Card & 6 DAYS LEFT to Sign Up for t...

RUN, DON'T WALK IF YOU WANT TO GET THE ICE CREAM PARLOR SUITE!

It's on the Last Chance List since the Stampin' Up! January to June Mini Catalog is retiring at the end of this month!

So, what is staying? What has carried over? The Sweet Ice Cream Stamp Set and Builder Punch

What is retiring? The suite and/ or bundle savings (see Last Chance section in the Stampin' Up! store)

The Designer Series Paper, Ribbon and Sprinkle embellishments that are part of the suite are also being retired!

Now to the tutorial:

DOUBLE FLAP GATEFOLD USING ICE CREAM PARLOR SUITE

Here are the card measurements and layout:

Card Base: 5 1/2 x 10 1/2"

Belly Band: 1 1/2 x 11"

Score at 1 inch and 3 1/8" on each end of the card. Outer score lines fold out and the inner score lines fold in.

Designer Series Paper Layer Measurements:

You will need two panels 3/4" x 5 1/4"
You will need two panels 2" x 5 1/4"

For the inside piece I did a DSP layer as well: 4" x 5 1/4"
Basic White Cardstock Layer (for inside sentiment): 3 3/4" x 5"

You will need the two So Sweetly Stitched Dies pictured for the Belly Band. The larger shape is cut in Blackberry Bliss Cardstock, The Smaller die cut in Basic White Cardstock.

Stamp your sentiments of choice. I chose Bermuda Bay and Blackberry Bliss to coordinate with the Ice Cream Parlor Suite theme.

You can see the stamping on the inside of the card pictured here.

Adhere your panels on the inside and outside of your card. The 3/4 inch panels go on the outer double flaps. The 2" panels go on the outside larger panels and the inside layers are pictured above.

For the Belly Band:

Punch out two ice cream scoops with the builder punch in Basic White Cardstock. Stamp with Blackberry Bliss or desired color.

Punch out two cones using the cone pattern DSP with your builder punch. Adhere to your ice cream scoops.

Glue on sprinkle embellishments!

I added the sentiment to the bellyband with Tear and Tape Adhesive. I popped on the ice cream cones on either side of the embellishment with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Isn't it cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make This Pretty Strawberry Card featuring the Sweet Strawberry Bundle f...

Yesterday I did a Facebook Live making this card and I just wanted to share a tip on how I like to use the stamps and Strawberry Builder Punch. I also have a craft tip video on this but I wanted to show it again since it was out of stock for so long but is finally back just in time for Summer!

Line up your "outline" and "fill" stamps on two blocks, pictured here. Punch out one piece of cardstock and use that to lay your stamps in which will line them perfectly for stamping/ punching

Here you can see the stamped strawberries lining up perfectly in the Strawberry Builder Punch - tip, cut your paper into 2 3/4 or 3 inch strips to run your punch easily from side to side
NOTE: Be careful not to pinch yourself if you decide to punch upside down like I am here

Punch out your pieces and have lots of strawberries in no time at all! Another tip is you can use Stampin' Write Markers or Ink Spots to ink your stamps easily. The larger ink pads can be used, just focus on using the corner of the ink pad to avoid cross-contamination of colors.
