Download the Week 6 Project Sheet here: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/GDzpMQJ/week6halloween

FOR THE WIPER CARD:

  • (1) Card Base: 4-1/4 x 8-1/2" Score: 1-1/2 and 3" (score lines to the right) Basic White Cardstock
  • (1) Card Base: 2 x 8-1/2" Score: 1-1/2 and 3" (score lines to the left) Basic White Cardstock
  • (1) DSP: 4 x 5-1/4" Them Bones DSP Graveyard Pattern
  • (1) Back Side of Card Layer: 4 x 5-1/4" Basic White Cardstock
  • (2) DSP: 1-1/4 x 4" Them Bones DSP Houndstooth Bat Pattern
  • (1) DSP: 1-3/4 x 5-1/4" Them Bones DSP Starry Sky Stripe Pattern
  • (2) DSP: 1-3/4 x 1-1/4"  Them Bones DSP Starry Sky Stripe Pattern
  • (1) Mechanism: 1 x 1-7/8" Basic White Cardstock
  • (1) Window Sheet: 1/2 x 2" Window Sheet
  • (1) Mausoleum Door Die Cut - Basic Black Cardstock (Bag of Bones Dies)
  • (1) Mausoleum Door Die Cut - Gray Granite Cardstock (Center door/ tombstone cut out) (Bag of Bones Dies)
  • (5) Gate Die Cuts - Basic Black Cardstock (Bag of Bones Dies)
  • (4) Ghost Die Cuts - Basic White Cardstock (Tricks & Treats Dies)
  • (1) Autumn Leaves Rectangle Die Cut - Basic White Cardstock (Autumn Leaves Dies)

INSTRUCTIONS

Position your double z fold but don't glue together yet. Fold on score lines. Larger piece of z fold card base the score lines will be on the right. The smaller piece of the z fold the score lines will be on the left.

You can start gluing the DSP to card base pieces. The graveyard scene and two strips of bat pattern go on the larger z fold piece. The striped pattern pieces get glued to the smaller piece of the front of the z fold. You can also add the gate die cuts all along the bottom strip. You will have to trim a few spokes of the gate as you go along. Keep score lines clear.

For the mechanism, in a horizontal position take the bottom right corner and fold so it makes a triangle and aligns with the top of the rectangle. This little triangle you just folded will become the mechanism. You will adhere this to the front part of the z fold. There are two score lines. The first score line  rectangle section is where the adhesive goes to adhere this to the card base. Its the inner rectangle where the second score line where you want to place your mechanism.

Line up the mechanism with the second score line (just inside of the score line), place glue on the back of the triangle you made on the mechanism and glue it so the piece runs length wise along the score line. On this longer piece, add the window sheet with a glue dot on the mechanism. Place another glue dot at the tip of the window sheet and place your ghost on it sideways.

NOTE: Whatever die cut you are using to pop up on the wiper mechanism, make sure it is under 2" so it will be hidden behind the front piece of the wiper card. If it is too wide it will show over the edges of the front z fold panel. Our ghost from Tricks & Treats fits well.

Once your mechanism, window sheet and ghost are all secure you will glue your z fold front panel to the card base at either end.

Pull the card and watch the ghost float up into your graveyard scene with the wiper mechanism! SOOOO CUTE!

Glue the Gray Mausoleum Door to the black one and then add to card. Be careful with adhesive placement. Keep adhesive under 2" mark so your mechanism still works. I lined the top of the mausoleum on the z-fold toward the right on the card. Add a ghost in the center of the doorway with a dimensional.

Finish decorating card as desired. I added several more ghosts to the scene as well as some glow in the dark bats.

You can have a blast creating so many different combinations!

HERE IS A SKELETON VERSION!

September 2023 Paper Pumpkin Alternate Ideas

Welcome! Here is the replay of the September 2023 Paper Pumpkin Alternate Ideas!

Here is a card alternate idea using the kit

Here is an alternative with the gift bag in the kit
I added sunflower stencils with the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks pack

More alternatives with the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks and
I also added some color to the pumpkins with Stampin' Blends

When making alternatives I like to look at the coordinating colors in the kit.
The Paper Pumpin team has the top row of colors on the instruction sheet.
I added the bottom row of colors as possible additional colors that would compliment the kit.

You can quickly add color to the die cut pumpkins and
leaves without losing any of the artist's original design!

I hope you enjoyed today's alternate ideas!

DIY Halloween Character Treat Boxes: Week 5 of the 12 Weeks of Halloween...

Get the free project sheet for this week's treat boxes here: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/aGekNUM/week5halloween

TREAT BOX 1 - Dracula's Grand Bat Cape!

  • (2) Treat Box Die Cut - Basic Black Cardstock - Tricks & Treats Dies
  • (1) Basic Black Layer 1 - 4 x 6" score at 3"
  • (1) Basic Black Layer 2 - 3-1/2 x 4" - score at 1/2" mitre edges
  • (2) Real Red Pieces - 3 x 4"
  • (1) Die Cut Vampire Head - Very Vanilla Cardstock - Tricks & Treats Dies
  • (1) Fancy Die Cut in Basic White Cardstock - Tricks & Treats Dies
  • (1) Fancy Die Cut in Basic Black Cardstock - Tricks & Treats Dies
  • (2) Die Cut Bats in Basic Black Cardstock - Bag of Bones Dies
  • (1) Bow Die Cut in Real Red Cardstock - Mini Pocket Envelope Dies
  • (1) Bow Tails Die Cut in Real Red Cardstock - Mini Pocket Envelope Dies
  • (1) Rectangle (for sentiment) Die Cut in Basic White Cardstock

INSTRUCTIONS

Assemble your treat box. I recommend Stampin' Seal+ or Tear & Tape Adhesive but multipurpose glue would also work well you just have to hold it in place til it dries.

Next, glue your real panel to the left inside of the small black card that will be adhered to front of box. Punch circles (you can also use die cuts or fussy cut, whatever you prefer)

  • Largest size circle punch first at the top (2-3/8" circle size) line it up with top corner and go in about 1/3 of the way and punch
  • Medium size circle next (2" circle punch) line it underneath and now your bat wing will start to become more obvious - continue to punch inward
  • Smallest size circle at the bottom (1-1/2 o4 1-1/4" circle punch) finish your bat wing with the smallest half circle cut into the bottom

NOTE: When you glue two pieces of cardstock together (like the red and the black on this card) it takes a little more strength to punch so if you have dexterity issues you may want to substitute a piece of DSP or thinner paper so it isn't too thick to punch. I did not have a problem but there is more tension in the punch when it's thicker.

Take your 3-1/2" piece of Basic Black cardstock and score it at the 1/2" mark. Mitre the edges. This is going to become a glue tab that you will tuck behind the card glued to the front of the treat box.

Next, glue the other 3" Real Red piece to the 3-1/2" Basic Black piece. This is going to become the other side of Dracula's cape. Make sure you don't glue past the score line because you need that tab to adhere to treat box later.

Now, you will create your bat wing with the circle punches again but on the right side instead of the left.

Glue tab behind edge of card with other wing. Add adhesive to the back of the card and add to the front of the treat box.

Stamp Dracula's hair and face in VersaMark ink. Sprinkle with black heat embossing powder and heat set with heat tool.

NOTE: I recommend the embossing anti-static tool that comes with the Embossing Additions Tool Kit but it's not a must. It helps keeps the powder only sticking to the ink. So, rub this powder over your cardstock prior to stamping with VersaMark and then continue heat embossing. It's a very clean, professional look.

Assemble Dracula's die cut cardstock bow. Take your Take Your Pick tool or a pen to help round and curve the bow flaps prior to gluing. Add the bow tail piece with a glue dot or two.

Draw a black line down the center of the Basic White die cut from Tricks or Treats dies. It has points at either end. This is going to become Dracula's shirt.

Add Classic Matte Dots in Black next to the drawn line so it looks like a few buttons.

Glue Dracula's head and bow to top. Just be mindful of the pieces fitting together in a way that looks cute.

The same die cut (this time cut in Basic Black) will be glued sideways behind Dracula to give the appearance of a collar or shoulders or body depending on what you see but the idea is the wings are his arms.

Test folding your bat wings. If it's a little long at the top trim a tiny edge off so your wings close nicely.

You will tie the treat box shut with Real Red ribbon.

Stamp "Trick or Treat" from Tricks & Treats Bundle in Real Red ink (or any red) onto the rectangle Basic White die cut. When you close the bat wings, this greeting will get glued to the front. Add a few die cut bats in black around greeting.

Tie it shut with ribbon.

Stuff your treat box with desired treats! NOTE: This box does become front heavy because of all of the weight we added with a card on front when the box is empty. If you want it to stand on a table or display be sure to fill it with treats first.

(Insert Dracula Laugh Sounds Here) haha... A spooktacular gift for someone!

TREAT BOX 2 - Frankenstein

  • (2) Treat Box Die Cut - Granny Apple Green Cardstock - Tricks & Treats Dies
  • (1) Die Cut Frankenstein Head in Granny Apple Green Cardstock - Tricks & Treats Dies
  • (1) Die Cut Small Rectangle Tag in Granny Apple Green Cardstock - Tricks & Treats Dies
  • (1) Mini Pocket Envelope Die Cut - Glow in the Dark Paper or Very Vanilla Cardstock - Mini Pocket Envelopes Dies (Cut in Half)
  • (8) Pecan Pie Planks - 1 x 3-1/4"
  • (2) Pecan Pie Side Panel Planks - 1 x 4"
  • (4) Die Cut Bats - Basic Black Cardstock - Bag of Bones Dies
  • (1) Die Cut Ghost - Glow in the Dark or Basic White Cardstock - Tricks & Treats Dies
  • (1) Fancy Die Cut for Sentiment - Granny Apple Green Cardstock - Tricks & Treats Dies
  • (1) Piece of Parakeet Party Twine (About 5" and trim to desired size)
  • (3) Tinsel Gems 4 Pack in Parakeet Party

Assemble treat box. Take Sponge Dauber with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and buff color all along the edges to give the box an aged look. Set aside.

Take all of your Pecan Pie pieces in the 1 x 3-1/4" size and punch the pointed banner cut on both sides of each piece with the Banners Pick a Punch.

Ink Timber 3D Embossing folder with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on the one side of the folder. Lay your pieces on the uninked side and fold folder. Run through Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Repeat this for the side panels as well. The side panels are a little longer and do not need punched on the edges.

Once your planks have been created you can smudge them up a little further with your sponge dauber and the black ink. It's ok to be messy and darken those edges.

Next, stamp Frankenstein's face and hair and bolts. You can either do all of this in one color or do this in two passes like I did.

For heat embossing:

  • put a post it over each bolt and then ink the face and hair
  • remove post its
  • when you stamp face the bolts will not stamp since they have not been inked yet
  • use black heat embossing powder on the face and hair and heat set
  • clean stamp
  • now put a post it on the face and ink the bolts
  • remove post it
  • stamp bolts
  • add silver heat emboss powder to bolts and heat set with heat tool

If you do not want to heat emboss two different colors, consider opting for the black pearlized enamel effects basics for your bolts or a silver embellishment.

Replace the die over the Frankenstein face until it's lined up. Add some smudge to his face with the sponge dauber and black ink around the jaw line.

Stamp "Eek" in black ink onto the small tag.

Add planks to front of treat bag. Criss-cross them at the bottom. Add Frankenstein's shirt (the Mini pocket envelope die cut in half and then trimmed to about 2". Add at a slight angle.

Add another crooked plank. Then add Frankenstein's head with dimensionals. Add the final plank at the top of the treat box.

Add side planks to either side of the treat box.

OPTIONAL: Decorate the back of the treat box with the "Trick or Treat" sentiment, ghost and planks as well.

Stamp "Trick or Treat" in VersaMark and heat set with black embossing powder. You can do the same smudge technique by inking a little black with the sponge dauber over the die lined up over the die cut. This creates a fun smoky frame effect. Nice and spooky! Glue a bat above the sentiment.

Add your planks in criss-cross pattern again. Add ghost and sentiment to the center of the card. Decorate with bat die cuts where desired.

Tie the eek tag to one of the planks with the twine. secure tag with a dimensional.

Finish with Tinsel gems.

Fill with treats!

August 2023 Paper Pumpkin ALTERNATE CARD IDEAS: Meaningful Flowers

Welcome to the free project sheet for the August 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit: Meaningful Flowers! While the pad you see is technically a "lotus pad" (I googled it) I'm more familiar with and used these more as lily pads. Just wanted to mention that. Apparently lotus pads are bigger and have a "V" notch.

CARD 1 - Unforgettable Friendship!

I borrowed a stamp from a past Paper Pumpkin Kit (February 2023) and the February Add-On Die does fit this frog if you have it on hand!

CARD MEASUREMENTS

  • Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2" Score: 4-1/4" (Basic White Cardstock)
  • Orchid Oasis Layer (cut up card base in kit): 4 x 5-1/4"
  • Basic White Layer: 3-3/4 x 5"
  • (2) pieces of the lily pad (technically it's a lotus pad) vellum (trim to 1-1/4 or desired size depending on where you stamp your lily-lotus-pads)
  • About 20" of twine

INSTRUCTIONS

Stamp three frogs on Basic White layer in a sort of triangular pattern using Memento Tuxedo Black ink (only need this ink if coloring with Stampin' Blends). Leave enough room for a lily pad to be stamped next.

Before stamping the lily pad, make a mask for your frog and place it over stamped frog image. Stamp lily pad in Memento ink as well. Repeat this with each of your three frogs.

I used the following Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers:

  • Frog Belly: Crumb Cake Light
  • Frog Body: Old Olive Dark
  • Lily Pad: Shaded Spruce Dark
  • Rings around lily pads: Lost Lagoon Combo
  • Water around lily pads: Pool Party Dark

Stamp greeting in upper right corner. I chose "Your friendship is unforgettable" from the kit stamps in Orchid Oasis ink.

Trim your vellum to desired width and length (My two pieces were 1-1/4 x 5 together) Adhere with adhesive from kit.

Wrap twine three times around the bottom. Tie a bow separately and add it with glue dot. If you are confident tying bows just do it all in one pass! I can't do that well for some reason.

For the Orchid Oasis layer, use the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder and run it through Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Glue it to card base. Place the frog layer on top.

Finish with clear dot embellishments from the kit.

NOTE: If you want to avoid masking the frog, use the die that coordinates with frog stamp if you have it. It was the add-on dies called 'Sunshine & Smiles."

If you do not have the frog, use any stamp that will add a scenic element like a butterfly or insects or something you might see on or near a lily pad. A dragon fly would be awesome too!

CARD 2 - Coordinating Colors Card!

This card is so colorful and fun!

  • Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2" Score: 4-1/4" (Basic White Cardstock)
  • 1/2 x 4" strips in Coordinating Colors - I used 10 in a variety of Tahitian Tide, Melon Mambo, Lemon Lolly, Bubble Bath, Orchid Oasis, Garden Green, Pretty Peacock
  • 1 Scalloped Contour Die Cut (2-1/4 x 3-3/4" size) - Yellow Layer of Card Base in Kit
  • About 20" of Orchid Oasis Metallic Woven Ribbon

INSTRUCTIONS

Glue 1/2" strips in a row onto card base with slight space between colors.

Stamp flowers onto die cut. Color with Stampin' Blends. I used Granny Apple Green Dark, Orchid Oasis, Flirty Flamingo, Tahitian Tide and Daffodil Delight.

Stamp amazing greeting from kit in Melon Mambo above flowers on the same die cut. Wrap ribbon several times at bottom of die cut. Tie a bow separately and add with glue dot. Add to center of card with dimensionals.

Finish with clear dot embellishments.

CARD 3 - Rise Above Bouquet

  • Card Base: 4-1/4 x 11" Score: 5-1/2" (Azure Afternoon Cardstock)
  • 4 x 5-1/4" Daffodil Delight Layer
  • (2) 4 x 5-1/4" Basic White Layer- one inside and one for the Darling Details layer
  • (1) Forget Me Not Bouquet Die Cut
  • About 20" of Tahitian Tide Twine

Cut the Darling Details frames with your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. The Daffodil Delight (yellow) layer is the outer frame. Run it again in white. This one will become the inside piece.

Stamp "rise above" greeting from kit stamp set in Tahitian Tide ink at the top of the white layer.

Glue the Darling Details pieces to card base.

Wrap the bottom of bouquet die cut with twine. Tie a bow separately and add with glue dot. Place on dimensionals and add to center of card.

Glue insert to inside of card. Finish with clear dots around bouquet.

CARD 4 - Playing on the Lily Pads

My favorite :)

  • Card Base: 4-1/4 x 11" Score: 5-1/2" (Lemon Lolly Cardstock)
  • 4-1/8 x 5-3/8"Melon Mambo Layer
  • Lily Pad Layer from Kit, trim about 1/8 from bottom if desired
  • (1) Die Cut Lotus with pads from kit
  • (1) Dancing Bunny Die Cut in Basic White
  • (1) Turtle Die Cut in Basic White
  • (1) Fussy cut small lotus from another layer in kit
  • (1) Long white banner from kit
  • About 15" of Natural Twine from kit

Stamp rabbit and turtle in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Die cut.

Use Stampin' Blends to color them:

  • Turtle Face, Arms and Legs - Lost Lagoon Light
  • Turtle Shell - Lost Lagoon Dark and Pretty Peacock
  • Turtle Belly - Daffodil Delight Combo
  • Bunny Hair - Slight outline of Smoky Slate Light and Color Lifter to soften gray look
  • Bunny Jacket - Lost Lagoon Combo
  • Bunny Nose & Inside Ears - Flirty Flamingo Light

Stamp greeting on banner in Pretty Peacock ink.

Glue Melon Mambo layer to card base.

Wrap twine around top of lily pad layer three times if desired. Place banner on dimensionals over twine. Pop Lotus die cut on dimensionals. Tuck turtle behind smaller pad. Replace daisy with die cut lotus in turtle hand. Place playful bunny on the big pad using glue. Add this layer to card front.

Finish with clear dots.

I hope you enjoyed today's alternate card ideas!

Unveiling 5 Cracker Box Ideas: WEEK 4 of the 12 Weeks of Halloween Serie...

Boo Cracker Box

  • Cracker Box Base: Basic Black Cardstock (I used about a 5-1/2 x 6-1/4" which gives a little extra space just in case)
  • (5) pieces of Them Bones DSP - Bat Pattern Orange Background - 5/8 x 2-3/8"
  • (2) pieces of Gingham Ribbon (About 4 or 5" depending on desired length - these are knotted, no bows so account for that in measuring)
  • (1) piece of Basic White Cardstock (for die cut Ghost from Tricks or Treats Dies) 1 x 1-3/4"
  • (1) piece of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock (1 xx 2")

INSTRUCTIONS

Die cut your cracker box with (full size) Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Decorate your box by gluing DSP panels to 5 of the 6 panels.

Fill with desired treat! Seal it (the last flap overlaps) with your desired adhesive. I recommend something kids can get open later!

Tie ribbon at either end. You will see the cracker box forming nicely when you tighten the ribbon. Trim off excess.

Glue "boo" die cut to ghost. Place mini dimensional on back of ghost and add to cracker box. SSSSSSOOOOOO CUTE!

BOO TO YOU Cracker Box

  • Cracker Box Base: Pumpkin Pie Cardstock - 5-1/2 x 6-1/4"
  • (5) pieces of Them Bones DSP - Orange Plaid Background - 5/8 x 2-3/8"
  • (2) pieces of White Twine (About 4 or 5" depending on desired length - these are knotted, no bows so account for that in measuring)
  • (1) piece of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock (for die cut Candy Corn from Tricks or Treats Dies) - 1-1/2 x 2"
  • (1) piece of Basic White Cardstock (for die cut bottom part of Candy Corn from Tricks or Treats Dies) 1 x 1-1/2"
  • (1) piece of Daffodil Delight Cardstock (for die cut top part of Candy Corn from Tricks or Treats Dies) 1 x 1"

Tie twine at either end. You will see the cracker box forming nicely when you tighten the ribbon. Trim off excess.

Assemble your die cut candy corn.

Stamp "Boo to you" in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink in the center of the die cut candy corn. This sentiment is from the Bag of Bones stamp set.

Place mini dimensional on back of candy corn and add to cracker box.

BONE-JOUR Cracker Box

  • Cracker Box Base: Basic White Cardstock - 5-1/2 x 6-1/4"
  • (2) pieces of Pebbled Path Textured Ribbon (About 4 or 5" - these are knotted, no bows so account for that in measuring)
  • (4) Fussy Cut Tombstones (Gray) from Them Bones DSP Tombstone Pattern Paper - various sizes
  • (1) die cut banner in Basic White Cardstock (from Cracker and Treat Box Dies) 3/4 x 2-1/2 piece to cut banner
  • (1) die cut kitty cat from Them Bones DSP (Skeleton sheet) the Bag of Bones Dies will cut these out. You could also stamp the cat

INSTRUCTIONS

For this cracker box, we are going to use the Hounds-tooth pattern stencil from the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks in the new Mini Catalog. Using a blending brush and Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stencil your pattern on the cardstock prior to cutting your cracker box.

TIP: I recommend taping (with removable tape) the cardstock and the stencil to keep it from moving when you add your color

Die cut cracker box. Add tombstones slightly crooked with mini dimensionals. Stamp "Bone-Jour" from Bag of Bones stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink too. Glue the banner across the bottom of the tombstones. Add the cat next to the banner.

THANKFUL Cracker Box

  • Cracker Box Base: Cajun Craze Cardstock - 5-1/2 x 6-1/4"
  • (5) pieces of Them Bones DSP - Orange Hounds-tooth pattern - 5/8 x 2-3/8"
  • (2) pieces of copper ribbon (About 4 or 5" depending on desired length - these are knotted, no bows so account for that in measuring)
  • (1) piece of Basic White Cardstock (for stitched banner die cut from Cracker and Treat Box Dies) 1 x 2-1/2"
  • (1) piece of Basic White Cardstock (for leaf die cut from Autumn Leaves Dies) 2 x 2"

INSTRUCTIONS

Steps are same as the two prior cracker boxes with DSP strips. For stamping this banner use Cajun Craze ink with "I'm Thankful" sentiment from Autumn Leaves stamp set. Add to cracker box with mini dimensional.

Add color to the die cut leaf with blending brush or sponge dauber in Pumpkin Pie. Tuck next to sentiment with mini dimensional as well.

AUTUMN Cracker Box

  • Cracker Box Base: Basic White Cardstock - 5-1/2 x 6-1/4"
  • (2) pieces of Parakeet Party Metallic Woven Ribbon (About 4 or 5" - these are knotted, no bows so account for that in measuring)
  • (5) Die Cut Leaves from Autumn Leaves Dies - various sizes and shapes
  • (1) die cut piece in Pumpkin Pie Cardstock (from Tricks & Treats Dies) 2-1/2 x 4"

INSTRUCTIONS

Follow the same steps to secure leaf stencil but this time use a variety of colors:

  • Acorns - Pecan Pie
  • Oak Leaves - Old Olive
  • Maple Leaf - Pumpkin Pie
  • Other Leaf - Crushed Curry
  • Sprigs and Branches - Cajun Craze

Dab on saturated color with sponge daubers.

TIP: Mini Sponge Daubers are better if you have one per color. Also, sponge daubers are better with stencils when you dab as opposed to a circular motion which can snag or rip the sponge. Dab it! My recommendation!

You will also color the variety of die cut leaves with these shades and your mini sponge daubers so you can do this at the same time.

Stamp autumn sentiment onto the Pumpkin Pie die cut. Stamp to the left so you can decorate the right side with your leaves. Once your leafs have been added secure to cracker box with mini dimensional.

For extra sparkle add some Wink of Stella to the veins of the leaves.

I hope you enjoyed these cracker box ideas!

Happy Crafting!
