Hello! I LOVED how much we got in the July Paper Pumpkin kit (hello die cuts), but I did decide to change the fun fold to a back fold card. That meant making my own card bases but still decorating them with pieces of the kit, so it's very close to the kit in terms of design, just a little bit simpler of a fun fold I think. Just a different way to use your kit pieces and stamps! Let's jump in...
BACK FOLD CARD MEASUREMENTS
- Card Base: 5-1/2 x 7-1/2" Score: 3-1/4 and 6-1/2"
- Card Front Layers - This can vary but I kept most pieces 3 x 5 or 3-1/4 x 5-1/4"
- Strip Layer: 7/8 x 5-1/4" (if it's the envelope flap pattern, cut to 5")
- Inside Layer: 3 x 5-1/4" (Basic White Cardstock)
- 2-3/8" Circle Punch
All 4 Cards have the same card base measurements. It's the die cuts from the July Paper Pumpkin kit that vary.
I used coordinating color cardstocks for the card bases: Flirty Flamingo, Basic White, Azure Afternoon and Daffodil Delight
THE BACK FOLD MECHANISM: The most important thing here is that the narrow panel fold back at the score line. Then only place adhesive on one side of the circle punch piece and adhere to the panel that folds back. This creates your back fold fun fold!
RELAX CARD - ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Note: Basic White Card Base
Stamp sun in Daffodil Delight ink in the top left hand corner. Take the die cut scene with sand and blue sky and trim it to 3" in width. Position the cloud outline just under the stamped sun and glue to card base. Take a second sand die cut (this one is just sand and slopes) and place that on dimensionals and this will cover the gap between the sand and bottom of the card front.
Tuck die cut chair inside the the sloped sand layer. Trim the bucket, shovel and ball piece away from the umbrella die cut and tuck in next to chair.
Trim that stripe pattern from the envelope flap to 7/8 x 5" and glue to the back fold panel.
Take the sign die cut and stamp "Relax" in Daffodil Delight ink. Trim bottom sand so it fits on the punched out circle in Azure Afternoon cardstock. I recommend using your Circle Punch to trim off the bottom so it lines up with circle. Optional and easy.
Place sign on dimensionals and add to circle. Place glue only on the side of circle what will adhere to flap that folds back. Do NOT put glue on the full circle or the fun fold won't work.
Finish with clear embellishments from the kit where desired.
WISH YOU WERE HERE CARD - ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: Azure Afternoon Card Base
Cut two envelope flap stripe patterns to 1-1/2ish x 5 pieces. Line them up so the lightest blue line slightly overlaps and glue together, glue to card front. Cut 7/8 x 5 inch piece from envelope and use the light blue side.
Stamp Starfish in Crumb Cake ink on the light blue layer. Alternate and slightly stamp off.
Punch circle out of the ocean/beach die cut scene from kit. Use this as the back fold mechanism. Decorate with crab and small white square die cut for sentiment. Stamp sentiment in Daffodil Delight ink. Place on circle with dimensionals. Add die cut sea shell and embellishments from kit. Glue one side of circle to the back fold flap.
Place large die cut palm trees on card front. NOTE: On my card, they are centered but I would recommend angling them slightly to the left so you can see them better even when the card is closed.
Stamp sun in Daffodil Delight. I fussy cut the sun but it would also be fine to cut it out with a circle punch or die cut of similar size and just add that to card front to the left above the trees.
Glue inside Basic White panel.
SORRY I WAS CRABBY CARD - ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: Daffodil Delight Card Base/ Basic White Circle Punch
This time trim the sunset scene die cut to 3-1/4" Same for the ocean scene with the black sail boat. Trim to 3-1/4"
Cut a 7/8 x 5-1/4" piece from the envelope in the kit (the darker blue Azure Afternoon side) and then stamp a pattern of starfish in Azure Afternoon ink straight down the strip. Adhere these panels to your card front and back fold panel.
Stamp "Sorry I was crabby" in Melon Mambo ink toward the top of circle. Add crab below with a dimensional. Adhere one side of circle to the back fold panel.
Stamp "Sending an ocean of love" in Daffodil Delight ink to the die cut banner from the kit. There are two sizes. Use the longer banner die cut. Glue to bottom of card front (below the boat).
Finsih card with embellishments from kit along the back fold panel between your stamped starfish. Glue inside panel.
SURF BOARD CARD - ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: Flirty Flamingo Card Base
Cut a 3 x 5-1/4" panel from an envelope and use the light blue side. Stamp a sun in top left corner in Daffodil Delight ink. My sun is slightly stamped off of the paper.
Trim the surf board die cut piece to 3" wide. Glue to card front. Add another die cut of again (the sloping sand piece) and add again with dimensionals so you can tuck the flip flop sandals and sunglasses into the groove. Stamp sign with "Relax" greeting in Daffodil Delight ink.
Use Circle Punch to cut circle in Azure Afternoon cardstock. Use circle punch to trim bottom off of sign so it fits on circle perfectly. Add sign to circle with dimensionals. Add embellishments.
Take two die cut banners from the kit (the shorter ones) and use these to decorate the back flap panel. Decorate with die cut seashells and starfish as well. Glue the circle (only one side) that adheres to the back fold panel. Glue insert.
I hope you enjoyed today's alternate card ideas! This truly was a joy to work with because of the number of creative die cuts in this kit! I'll save those step fold card bases from the kit for another day!
